Hello guys,

today I want to show you step by step, how to build a flyable scale propeller.
I built the propeller with white ash and it can be used to fly.

First, they enlarge the drawing to the size they you need.
I copy one of the propeller halves and create then a complete propeller.

I do the same with the side view.
The top view and the side view you cut out exactly.

The next step is to cut the wood.
If you do it with more layer, so much better the quality.
5 layers are the mean, but you can mix also different types of wood as to the original propellers.
Most of the propellers were built with 5 and 7 layers, but I will not discuss the exact type of wood.

Of the German ww1 propellers and also before the great war, I have very accurate information and when you need some info, then I will surely help.

greetings Matz

Step 1.
The Drawings and your idea.

scale flyig props arent the problem as I understand it, it is our motors/engines that cant turn a scale propeller. If you were to have anadjustable setup it might be ok.

I look forward to your next steps! Meanwhile, this seems like a good place to post this link to WWI propeller information:

@ Don,
yes, I‘ve seen your thread and your prop looks good, but I'm not talking about stand propellers or deco props.

@ All other guys,

For decoration plays the diameter, pitch and the angle not matter, but for a flyable propeller are the datas very important.

It is not possible to constructing a propeller with high performance only with a photo and about datas.

And for models with large propellers (1/2, 1/3 and 1/4 ) the data must be absolutely correct,...the parameters must match and not circa.

A scale propeller should not only look good, he should also work.

For the next steps I need first is a diagram drawing that everyone understands how to do that, but it soon goes on.

I'm watching and waiting. I want to do this for my RCV .60, which is geared 2:1.

I'd love to make a scale and functional propeller for my Seidel 770.

Hello friends,
now I have the time and at on sunday I will start to upload of the first sketches.
I created a sort of diary, after I will explain in several steps.

A: Theory:
1. How works a Propeller.
2. How was the original propellers built.

B: Theory: What we need exactly to build a working propeller.
1. What are the important datas
2. Where can I get the datas
3. We define the diameter, pitch and strength

C. Theory: What can I use.
1. What kind of wood.
2. Which glue we can use.
3. and which paint we can use.

D. Theory: The tools that we need.
1. the templates
2. Glueing, sawing, grinding work, measure
3. first balancing the Propeller after the glueing

It's not so complicated as you think, I'll leave out all the complex things and simplify everything so that you can understand it. If there are any questions or something is not clear, please write.

greetings Matz
