A little inflation. A lot of exchange rate.

Then you got yourself a real deal. Make sure you always save your broken headers, they are the main part to a do it yourself system.

I did... it was $20 from Orielly auto parts... those tools are only rated for soft copper tubing/pipe: it didn' work... so the guy at home depot recommends a machine shop nearby and the guy wants $100 to do the work on his lathe. I put an ad on RCGroups and here and a guy actually had the header (the exact same 12 year old part from Central hobbies) in a box...

$45 shipped yesterday... If i get it.. I'll be a happy camper..

guys... found a guy that the had the original header from Central hobbies and got it for $40... I got it and found that the nut would run out of threads before securing the header in... I was looking for a machinist when someone suggested I find a washer... Central hobbies didn't have it so I went to home deport.. found the closest washer to 13mm and that looks like it's going to work...

I'm a little worried about the washer introducing extra restriction for exhaust flow but we'll see. wish me luck

the washer from Home Deport worked out... the new header was sealed but I ran into a new problem.. The motor is leaking like a sieve... (that's an exageration)

The YS F120 is installed in a Zen 120 pattern ship.. it is mounted in a dubro like anti vibration mount and inverted.. the header wraps around points down the centerline and underside of the fuse. There is a 12 inch gap between the pipe and the header... I tried PVC first, it melted in under 120 seconds... I tried PEX (super PVC) it lasted 180 seconds... Somewhere recommended exhaust silicon tubing for diesel engines.. tried it and it didn't melt but the vibration split the hose every flight (too expensive at $5 for 3 feet of hose).

I'm writing this not to complain about exhaust but about how much fuel leaves the motor unburned. it's alarming how much fuel is everywhere after a flight (in the cowl, the belly pan, etc). There is a screen affixed to the top of the carb (i don't know if that's original). I'm wondering if there is a bad seal somewhere but that doesn't make sense... this motor can run without a header on... this motor can run rich, lean, anything (i haven't tried it yet but I'm sure the motor would run even if an elephant pooped on it). plenty of compression... starts in 2 or 3 flips... I'm waiting for the plane to die so i can put this motor into a P51 to go really fast in...

anyway.. is it normal for this motor to leak so much fuel... I have a DLE 20 and you'd be hard pressed to find anyting outside that motor except flecks of oil on the cowl...

Get teflon tubing from Central if they still ave it and forget the silicone tubing. The teflon lasts longer and the types you had used were never meant for high temps like exhaust.

As for the mess in the cowl, is it oil from the tubing splitting? If not I'd be looking for the cause as that is not exactly normal. A little oily mess is one thing but you are describing something more than that. The screen is aftermarket and just keeps big pieces of debris from being ingested.
