If you don't mind the brief downtime for swapping packs during a run then I say get the Reedy's.  You'll have a combined 7400mAh vs. 5000.  Plus, the 3700s are lighter so the truck will handle differently and run ever so slightly faster.

As long as the 3700 35C can handle the 1350 watt motor and 150a esc then it should be fine. I have 4 5400mah 2s 50C Zippy packs which I use in parallel to may a 4s pack. They get warm after 20 minute or more of hard driving.

Those Reedy batteries should work fine.

This is what I use.

They are 2s, so 2 of them need to be use together by using the series adaptor included with the mt4, then it becomes a 4s
I have the 5400mah model which have the exact same dimensions as the 5700mah I linked. They fit in the battery tray with no mods at all
And even better, you can buy them from Hobby king's European warehouse so shipping is cheaper and quicker.

And when you mean an order is placed do you mean you bought the vehicle or batteries

Both. MT4 and two of those Reedy packs.

The E-MTA just came into stock at this shop though, which isn't shipping til Monday. I have the option of changing to an E-MTA for the same price. Very tempted....

My main reason for choosing the MT4 over the E-MTA is that the MT4 should be better on a track. BUT.... the E-MTA waterproof factor is pretty cool, and the E-MTA looks pretty sleek, with a low COG for an MT... Again, never going to be racing on a track anyway...

Back on the other hand, the MT4 at least shares diffs with my RC8T...

Look at the 50-second mark or so.. It looks awfully complicated with all those gears set up like that. I would think the MT-4 would be much simpler and more reliable?...

Yeah that emta tranny looks more complicated than the mt4 and not as easy to work on. With the mt4 you get a center diff so you can put 100k+ diff fluid so you can get the monster truck handling. I don't think the emta motor and esc are waterproof though, maybe water resistant.

yesterday I was changing the grease in my rear diff to silicon oil. It was late at night so when I put the diff case back on, I stripped 2 of the screws somehow I need to get a new diff case and use my dremel to cut open the old one. It could of happened to any car, it happens way easier on a 1/10 scale though.

I ordered lots of spares just in case because I'm going camping. Lets hope they arrive before Christmas....

Would two of these be right for trying out 6s?:

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LH2650

An online shop here has them for %10 off today only.. Still freakin' expensive - like three gallons of fuel..

those 3s packs can handle 136.5 continous amps
the mt4 motor gives out a maximum of 1350 watts which is equal to 61 amps on 6s

So its looks like it should work and fit well, although, you can find better for that price.

If you use those batteries, you will end up with 2 battery connectors that need to connect one esc connector, you will need a series adaptor like this

I've been looking at hobbyking for ex., and I'm sure somewhere there are cheaper batteries to be had. But these Wolfpacks come with Dean's connectors, so not having to solder is worth some bucks for me.. And the series cable I can get ready-made I'm pretty sure, so charge and go pretty much - which is worth something to me.. From what I have seen searching so far is that these Wolfpacks are indeed the cheapest option for 6s that come with Dean's connectors..

The question though is just do I want to spend 120 freakin' Euros on it? Don't even know if I'm going to like brushless at all, and I already have two 4S packs coming with the truck...

Thanks for your advice though - appreciate it. Lot to learn and read about lipos.. Some of it sounds pretty scary. Feel like I need to charge them in a bomb-proof shelter in a field somewhere..

Went to the LHS yesterday and just looked at some lipos for the first time ever.. They're HUGE!! They had a 6S, and it was freakin' enormous...

The dimensions of the mt4 battery tray are around 138x46x25 give or take a mm or 2. But if don't mind a bit of cutting, almost any reasonably sized battery will fit. Be wary of where the wires exit.

I heard that for ex. with the Gensace 5000 4s battery you have to dremel the top of the cage a bit so the cables can fit...

We'll see...

Just saw you can get a non-hardpack 6s 3700 20C Orion pack for €60 bucks - i.e. half the price of getting the two 3s hardpack Wolfpacks... Guessing you can't use non-hardpacks in cars?...

Wish I could just buy a straight-up 5s battery for €80-100 or so, instead of two 3s for €60 apiece..

Those batteries you mention with under 4000mah will not give very much run time,

I'd be looking at 5000mah minimum.

Thanks.. All the other options I'm seeing are either way more expensive, or don't have Dean's connectors... No way in hexx am I paying €80 per 3s pack.. (I can't even believe I'm considering spending €120 on batteries just to "try out" 6s on an electric truck I might not even like all that much... Just shows how much this deep dark winter is doing my head in.. I freakin' hate winter... 6s does look pretty cool in the videos though..)

Is this the right cable for combining two 3s packs to make 6s?:

http://www.ebay.de/itm/Dean-T-Stecker-LiPo-Adapter-Y-Kabel-fur-T-Rex-450-500-/160411223714?pt=RC_Modellbau&hash=item25594106a2

EDIT - the shop I ordered those Wolfpack 4s 3700 lipos from shot the price back up immediately to €70 apiece after I bought two for €40 each, so I don't feel too bad about that..

Yea that connector will do fine for running 2x 3s lipos to make 6s,

Honestly herr I hated soldering until I bought the right iron,

I had tried multiple irons from 60w up to 100w,

None of them were getting near the heat required to solder esc and lipo battery wires,

Then I bought a cheapo Chinese 200w iron on eBay and now soldering is seriously easy,

The only issue I used to have with soldering was not enough heat,

I can now solder 8awg on lipo packs within 5 mins,

6s will be nuts power, but perhaps in a Truggy with a centre diff it would tame it a little,

On a monster truck with no centre diff 4s is plenty and not too hard on the drivetrain

I've decided to hold back for the time being.. Throwing out €120 to try 6s before I've even tried 4s was a bit overboard.. Nearly ordered them though.

Kind of glad I didn't. Found some Nvision 4200 3s 60C lipos for the same price as the Reedys at the sale price.

Still got to get a charger too.... That's my mission for tomorrow. Probably this:

Yea that charger will do for starting out,

but with being rated at 50w max it will take around about an hour to charge one battery,

Using a parallel charging board to charge two packs at once will not shorten the charge time with that charger,
So it'll still take near 2 hours to charge 2 batteries, either way

I just recently changed to this charger,
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__12105__HobbyKing_ECO6_10_200W_10A_6S_Bal_Dis_Cyc_Charger_w_acc_.html

Although I already had a power supply to run it off, as it doesn't have mains power capabilities,

It can charge 2x 3s lipos at once or 3x 2s lipos using a parallel charging board,

This will charge the 2x 3s lipos in less than an hour.

Thanks.. Yeah, I think for me, charge time is not that crucial. But then I don't know for sure. Do you reckon for ex it's worth spending €100 now, instead of €50, to have a charger that will be more capable down the line?

I ordered two 4s packs with the truck for starters. Then at some point I'll probably get 2x 3s to try 6s. I.e. when I go out with everything charged up it'll be with three rounds of batteries..

but waiting nearly 2 hours to charge a 4s pack will get boring fast,

Most people will not charge their lipos above 1c, as it can damage the lipo or worse,

Lets say that if you have a
3800mah lipo to charge that @1c you would charge it at 3.8A
4000mah = 4.0A
5000mah = 5.0A

And so on,

The 50w charger you mentioned earlier will charge at a max of 5.0A,
Which will be fine for upto 1 lipo @ 5000mah,

it will not charge 2 5000 lipos any faster on a parallel Charging board as its maxxed out at 5A

To benefit from charging two 5000 lipo on a parallel charging board you would need 10A charge rate,

This gives 5.0A to each pack, this then allows charging 2 packs at the same time, saving time.

Thanks.. So basically,

1.) It's better to run two smaller packs than one bigger pack, in case one goes bad. 2x 3s for 6s, etc.. (and 5s?)
2.) A 10a charger is better than a 5a charger, because you can charge two packs simultaneously, saving time.

1. Performance wise they are the same (2 small packs vs 1 large one). You do get that advantage (only thow one pack away if a cell dies) and also if you have 1/10 vehicles as well which ise 2s packs, you can share the batteries.
2.) A 10a charger can charge twice as fast as a 5a one.

If you had 1 pack charging at 5a that will be done in an hour, than 2 packs together charging at 10a will also be done in an hour. Its kind of like having two 5a chargers in one.

I am assuming you have read on lipo safety? It will be well worth your time if you learn some of the basic stuff so you don't get yourself in a pickle
