Status: offline 		Ok, that time of year is hear and the wife wants to know what new toy I want.

Im sick of the mony spent on EDF

But I want a nice looking prop jet, that has great speed.

I would like something that can handle a 5000mah 6s lipo as I have a ton of them.

I was thinking of

Hanger 9 Jackel
Balsa USA Enforcer

I currenlty have a Balsa USA Northstar with a HK T600 880kv motor on 5000mah 6s with a 12X12 APCe prop around 14,000rpm its a blast but I know its dragy.

So I would like to use a simiular set up if possable as I have a extra motor and ESC.

Status: offline 		i dont think its wise to spin that 12x12E prop at 14,000.

buy a carbon Q-500 plane.

Status: offline 		A guy who posted here a few years ago had a Weston Magnum with a Nelson Q40 engine that ran about 195 mph. His screen name is something like..... Sessholvlaru....Sessholvru....
He quit the project before he did any prop or engine work.

Status: offline 		I got a carbon prop comeing, and im going to try the G Sonic 12X12 as soon as it show up..

But what Im saying is this is a fun cheap power set up.

Im just looking for a good prop plane that can handle a 5000mah 6s lipo and at least a 12-11in prop.

Wow thanks thats a sweet bird, cant seem to find it in the US. And its around $400 

Any otheres like this?

Im thinking of building a Balsa USA Enforcer if I cant find anything and put a larger  EDF on it

Status: offline 		The magnum wouldnt fly well on an e setu pwith a 6S 5000.
the best option to me would buy a Hobby King 90mm Viper jet. install a fire wall in the rear of the thrust tube so that you can install your motor. On 6S I would shoot for something in the 1200-1500 KV range with around 2,500-2,800 watts. take APC 12x10 or 12x12 E prop and cut it down to around 5-6" in dia. this will yield around a 5x14 prop. Spin it around 20,000 or so and should fly that jet well. I Did this same mod to a Sapac viper. The ducted fan would pull 2,000 watts on a 5S 3,300 pack. the jet was around 120 mph. when I converted it to a pusher prop it sounded better and consumed around 1,200 watts on the same battery and yielded the same speed.

Status: offline 		Airraptor,    I feel you and thats why I was looking for a prop jet.

Its funny my boy told me prop jets are not cool no more as everyone likes edfs.

But I have already did what you said, 

I had a Het F20, with a 70mm SAPAC EDF on 5s nice, but I hated the hand launching on it and it was not as fast or had the thrust I wanted.

So I got bord one day and put a ARC 28-58-1 with a 6X4 APC at around 30k.  

My dum self hand launched it insted of putting retracts on, I thought I could power it up after if left my hand, Well 25 stiches later and a cracked bone in my hand said otherwise.

No mind you I still few it while I was bleading everywere, and it was a blast, it flew and acted the way I thought it should it was great! 

I think you have a good ideal there, but this time use retracts.

Status: offline 		My viper had the retracts. its just that it was close to 4 lbs aon 180-200 sq inches of wing isnt going to be super fast.

That APC 6x4 "glow" prop is the best kept secret for thrust and decent speed in the electric world. I have spun that thing up to 39,740 rpm. I bet that thing is putting out around 3-4 lbs of thrust.

Status: offline 		Why not put the power setup your talking about in an EF1 electric racer. They are suppose to be quick on a 4cell, with the right 6 cell setup up they might give the Q40 guys a run for their money.
Go with something like the Proud Bird from Tower Hobbies, it also looks right with a prop on the front.

I really like the ME163 from HET, but I already got a Rifle doing 160+ and the older guys at my feild don't like how small it is as they cant keep up with it and they get scraed when they hear it screem by. LOL

So  I found this 60in wing ME163   http://www.texasrcplanes.com/me163.html

I like it becouse its big but still fast, it has landing gear that drops off, and it seems to take any power set up, On guy is doing 160mph on Turnigy SK3 Fandrive - 3659-1900kv

It looks to take any power set you can dream. Sounds like a lot of fun They even have it in red!

For around the $1000 price range you can get a 54" Jibe2 or swist, stick a hot NEU motor in it with a 5 or 6S pack and get 200mph out of that sucker - great fun and the old foggies at your club can still see it.

I got a nice Slick 72in Speed Falcon hot Liner last year at one of the Airplane shows.

Its fun, but I wante something that has looks not just speed, Im still new to this hobby only been flying 2 years and i seem to get board with them most of my birds real quick.

Its weard, when I first started my planes did not have very long life spans, so I was always getting new diffrent toys, but now I know how to fly Im trying to pic the best ones I can as I have a (10 Plane Limit) LOL

These planes will be slow on a 6S 5,000 pack if it will fly anyway. maybe a 6S 2500 on the right motor.

Go with the 163 in a Pusher configuration.

Status: offline 		It's over propped! And, at 14,000, you are getting close to the safe limits for some electric propellers!
a 6s battery with the kv rating should produce about 21,000 RPM with the correct sized prop.
