OK I started the P-51 thread and now I was just thinking what in your opinion is your best looking aircraft. Here is mine: My all time favorite is tied. The conny and the F-16 are tied in my book. Other ones that makes me bulge is the P-51, Vulcan, F-100,b-58 hustler.
Whats yours?

Mine is the F7F TigerCat and better yet take a ride in the back seat of one for an hour and when your flight is over, you'll look for a cigarette
What an incredible ride!

All the aircraft mentioned so far share a common feature: They are slick, smooth-skinned metal birds. My idea of beauty is a bit different.

It is, after all, in the eye of the beholder. In "our" world my onlypick would be:

Pfalz D.IIIa

I think it has something to do with the hours I spent running a wind tunnel in college. It tended to "shape" my mind!

Right now, this one. Italian. It just exudes elegance! Need I say more? I'm very partial to Pfalz types, especially the DIII.

Best piston engined, P51 closely followed by the Spit.
Best jet, Hawker Hunter, closely followed by F16.

The Concord is defiantly up there.

So is the B-1 Bomber! I saw it make it's first flight from Palmdale, Ca. Plant 42 to Edwards. Before they de-tuned it, it had HUGE engines. I also saw on in a holding pattern at the Prescott VOR, Drake, with a student that I wa instructing. He was above us about 15 thousand feet with the wings extended! wallace.tharp
