Status: offline 		I too have used poplar many times over the years in my models. I also dabble in furniture building too, poplar is a very popular secondary and sub structure wood for upolstered chairs and couches.

Status: offline 		Poplar accepts screws and nails without splitting, has reasonable weight and strength, and lacking pitch and oils glues well so does work well as a furniture sub structure.
