Dave,

From your experience with the engine do you think it compares same performance numbers to glow engine its same size?

Craig,

I can compare the Evo 10cc gasser to my OS 46AX and 55AX glow engines. It certainly is stronger than the OS 46 and IMO, as good as the 55.

Dave,

Looks like evo has done their homewwork at least..when you can get a gas engine to be compatible to nitro engine,i think thats pretty good..I looked at the hp ratings on os 46,55 and i think 65.they really don't make a jump till you get to 75 size..It's good to see they didn't just put the engine together and sell it like some of the companies.I think they will do good with this.If they could shed a few ounces it would be the bomb.Give them some time and i think everyone will be leaning this way cause of fuel cost and gas is less tempermental. With gas,you can play with comperssion and timing more and really see a difference.Where with nitro, temperature is so crutial.

I had done my ground run in and airbone run in. i have to say this gas engine has met the highest standard of production. one can feel this from the moment of unboxing.

Well.....I just ordered one of these engines. I hope it turns out to be everything I expect it to be. It will be going on a scratch built OMP Katana I have been building. Still got lots to do before covering.

You can use a glow plug copper washer/gasket if you lost the one that came with the little spark plug.

Used high temp black RTV on the muffler screws and after three flights today they are still tight. I now have two runs with 10 x 6 prop on the ground and five eight min. flights with the 11 x6, so far so good. Jim

The nipple from the carb points directly back towards the head of the motor,
is it safe for gas line to rest against the head as in my setup the engine is
tilted to the left.

Well,
I couldn't stand  it no longer..I  put the evo 10 on test stand and fired it up.It really surprized me far as tuning and power.I think this is gonna be a great engine.Throttle response is really quick. Can't ask for any better than that.I'm really impressed with it so far just testing on the stand.I don't know how many of you that has tried it and don't like it.Let me know and i will buy it from you....True test a little later on plane.Think i'm gonna put it on 40 size plane of some kind.I was told straight from one of the guys that help develop it that 40 size plane is best for 3d.Hopefully keep it around 6 pound range.

Eddie,

The reason we included the black Viton fuel tubing inside the package is to use for plumbing all of the lines on your system.  The Viton is resistent to the heat from the engine, as well as compatible with fuel.  You can use Tygon if you want to, but it is definitely something to watch out for if it is rubbing against the engine.  Tygon is not as resistent to heat and will begin to melt after a period of time touching the engine.  I would recommend using the Viton.

Thanks,
Jimmy

My engine was dropped off a bit ago. Wish I wasn't at work right now, lol.

How much Viton is included with the engine? is it enough to do all the plumbing?

Try this http://www.mcmaster.com/#viton-fluoroelastomer-tubing/=lakyk6 . The stuff is not cheap but this is the best price I have seen.  You would probably want item # 5119K41

In the engine, we ship a 1/2 meter piece.  On most models that should be enough to plumb the whole system.  If you need more, we will shortly have it available but we are waiting for it to reach our warehouses.  As mentioned above, you are also able to get it from McMaster-Carr and possibly other hardware/small engine shops.  When it becomes available through us it will be under EVOA102 (1 meter piece) and EVOA103 (3 meter piece).

Another nice thing about Viton is there's no need to use fuel barbs or clamps to secure it.  These are of course good practice, but the tubing does not swell as does Tygon.

Just to let you guys know, we also plan to have a larger diameter available in the near future as well.  We've found Viton to be the best all around solution for airplane fuel systems since it is compatible with all fuel types.

Thanks,
Jimmy

The Viton does have one disadvantage of inability to see fuel or air bubbles in the line but so far that hasn't been an issue other than when fueling and waiting for gas to come out the muffler.

I was just going to ask when Horizon will have this size tubing available to buy. It is about 5/32 id and all the other viton tubing that I have found is 1/8" id, which is a little to loose for standard brass that comes with a fuel tank. I buy my viton tubing from Red Aero RC for $13.99 for 24", but it also is 1/8" id so I was using the larger tubing and barbs. I like smaller, because I think its easier to seal on the standard brass tubing and also a tighter fit with 5/32 barbs. Jim
