I have been out of helicopter flying for about ten years and once again got the bug but not the capital to purchase something brand new. I have several scale 1/5 and 1/4 scale airplanes ready to fly so I though I would trade across the board with a fellow modeler. This is not the case and the results have been diappointing to say the least. I have place adds here and on many other model websites. Am I'm doing this wrong or are there no helicopter modelers who still fly fixed wing aircraft?

First and foremost I am a fixed wing modeler/flyer and that will never change however like Scale Only, I too made a trade couple of years ago of some of my fixed wing stuff (can,t ever remember what now) for a Raptor 50 and its been great fun being a newbie all over agine.

Barter is alive and well more than one would think especially in this depression. The problem is it does not work as well on an electronic basis. Your most successful barter is in person and that will require for you to get involved in your club(s) and walk away from the computer.

Not long ago I was involved in a convuluted barter circle with around six people and all of us were very happy, the trade is still the talk of club with a lot laughter.

Barter is fine as long as you have others to barter with and I don't. I taught myself to fly helicopters and had no assistance. Many mistakes latter and many dollars expended I accomplished what I intended to do. As I stated money is an issue and ten years ago it was not so I though I could reach out using the computer as a tool.

OK you are close in Barstow to the victor valley flyers and doing the loner thing is fine but when you want people to trade with then there is nothing like face to face contact.

Gas in California is over $4 per gallon here. The distance to there field is forty miles and like I said money is an issue currently. I have never had an issue with dealing face to face on a trade so that is not a problem.

Yes perhaps not for you but every trade or barter is a two way street and it takes two to trade. You very well may be limiting your options for barter.

Sorry for responding to your first post.
