Posted this in Warbirds but want to cover my bases so I'm posting here as well.

I'm sure that this has been covered somewhere, but I am just curious what muffler system would work best for my G62 in a Top Flite Giant Scale P47? I don't know if the stock muffler will work but I'm also considering a JTEC RadioWave Pitts style wraparound muffler. Thoughts? Opinions? Plane is under construction now and I already have the G62 so now I'm wondering what to do about the exhaust. I'm not going into a lot of detail, this is just sort of a stand way off scale project. I do have the retracts, brakes, cockpit kit and I'm going to have the canopy slide but no panel lines or rivets so scale exhaust is really not a problem for me, just something that looks good and doesn't tear up the cowl.

Thanks,
Andy

I'm going to use a pitts muffler on my G-62 and TF 1/5 P-47. I've used the B&B side dump mufflers, they are loud. Really nothing more than exhaust diverters.

You will have to cut into the engine box with those mufflers. I have the same equipment and ended up going with a 55cc instead. I just pointed the cylinder to the 7 o'clock position and the factory muffler was a good fit with clearance for the muffler within the cowl.

The G-62 will go into the big P-40 instead. It has a slimline muffler which is very quiet.

Hi Andy, would this set-up work ? If noise is an issue a hydro-mount could also be fitted, that combined with a three blade prop is whisper quiet !

Hi bob, no it's not homemade. It's all in here - http://www.toni-clark.com/index_en.htm If you click on catalouge it's about half way down. I'll post a picture of the bottom of the aeroplane later today.

Cheers, john
