Hi there,
I will try to help you...

You can prevent the car from what is termed "runaway" by fitting a failsafe (such as- http://www.modelsport.co.uk/m-troniks-micro-failsafe/rc-car-products/23628 )
Although that car may already have that feature already built in...check the manual.

If the engine is high revving with the controls at neutral, then it can be a multitude of things...but basically....either the carburettor gap is too large or the mixture is too weak/lean. The idle screw on the carburettor should control the mininmum carb gap, not the servo.

A clicking noise is pointing to another fault, you should find what is clicking and why.

With limited experenice with RC Modal Cars,

I did find the problem to the clicking noise i was posting about.

Turns out that my engine had moved a touch which made the cogs not interlock right and clicking came from brushing them,

best thing u can do with new models now is upgrade ur radio system. i dont trust the RTR radios. go with a spektrum or futuba. and most failsafes will not work with the new 2.4ghz systems. and make sure ur batteries are charged.

I just posted an experience with my New HPI Trophy 4.6 Truggy in another thread

When ever I buy an RTR I go thru everything.  I do not mind the RTR radio systems and they do work if you spend the time to set them up properly.  They will work with the RTR and at the moment I am still using the stock radio system in my Trophy 4.6 Truggy.   In time I will replace the receiver with a Spektrum so I can add another model to it.

When I go to play with my R/Cs I also invite some of my buddies that do not have them and let them play with mine

I do agree that going with better radio is an option if you can afford them but not everyone can.  Many of the people out here are younger dudes without a huge budget for their toys.

My Spektrum DX3C at $139.00 bucks was not expensive as others but it is a really great radio system.  Does a 20 Model memory and has all the bells and whistles of more expensive radio systems.

Like the stock systems it takes time to learn all the features of them and than use it to your advantage.  There are so many more features with a screen display than there are with a simple radio.

My suggestion is if you can afford a better radio than go for it.   People like me can help you learn it.

Experience sometimes takes years to learn everything and each new introduction of a new R/C is a new experience.   Have fun and read a lot about them if you are new to Remote control cars and trucks

On the contrary, RTR radio upgrades are quite affordable these days.

Take the Flysky range, the GT3B has everything your DX3 has except that it only has 10 model memory and no telemetry, but then it only costs $40 and extra receivers are only 8 bucks each compared to spektrum ones for $40.

Also from the same US retailer as the Flysky, are the EXI brand servos. A 180oz-in servo with .16 transit time can be had for 16 bucks. So a complete 2.4ghz programmable race ready 3ch radio system AND a high torque servo, can now be had for only 56 bucks.

Although some people have been satisfied with the FlySky, the GT3B has had it's share of problems.

Some have reported interference with Spektrum systems.
Wheel has been known to break
Trigger has been known to break
High power consumption
Expo function usually doesn't work

The GT3C is viewed by many as superior and comes with a LiPo battery, but is more expensive.

Thanks again Foxy  I appreciate you letting me know about this stuff.  Since I took a hiatus for 6 years from the hobby and now getting back into forums my information is usually as old as I am   I am having to re-learn all the new technologies and taking the time to read into them when presented to me.   I am old school for sure not a bad thing because most old ideas carry over to the newer stuff.   I used to have to go to a hardware store and measure the length to a mounting point on the frame if I wanted a throttle return spring on my throttle Servos.  Now they have in line return springs and fail safes are built into many receivers for low battery detection these days.   Fail safe back then was purchase a spring strong enough to close the throttle when your receiver pack battery died so it would not run away on you.

My parts came in today for the HPI Trophy 4.6 Truggy today and following your advice purchased a Spektrum S6030 Digital Surface Servo that has 222/278 OZ of torque than installing the matching SR200 Receiver to go with the DX3C radio system.    The SR200 was $29.95 and the Servo was reasonably priced at $72.99

The HiTec 133 OZ would turn the wheels when sitting on the ground and the stock would do nothing so I am excited to see how much better the new servo will be.

Wow I did not know about these others that you have mentioned and looked into them this evening.   You can learn many things when you search for them when you know what you are searching for.  Thanks again for helping me along with getting back into the hobby.

I heard that the 3C was giving a lot of people range issues and that the 3b was more reliable. My friend has a 3b, and I use a Futaba 3pk with spektrum pro, we bash together often enough for me to say that at least between those two systems, there is no issue.

The expo thing is well known. I'm easy on my stuff, so I'd be unlikely to break the plastics.

You're welcome Joe, things have been moving very fast lately, particularly the last 2 to 3 years, lots of good (enough) quality cheap Chinese products popping up, amongst a lot of bad ones too of course, but the good ones get spotted pretty quick usually.

Hobbypartz and Hobbyking prices blow your mind the first time you see them.
