Does anyone else have this charger? I used it to charge a NiMH battery and it seems like it had a fan that kicked on during the charge.. I used it again on my second NiMH pack and it charges quietly but only charges the pack to 300 - 500 mah and then says it's full on a 2000 mah pack.. I've tried discharging the same pack and it takes off 300 or so mah's and beeps saying it is discharged..?

I have the 1st pack plugged back in right now to see if it makes a difference.. I know for certain this pack was fully charged to 2000 mah, so I am discharging as I type this to see if the charger takes the full 2000 mah off this pack or not..

  Thanks for any help..

It will be close. I've used many of the newer chinese chargers for NI type packs and they all have been problematic (stopping before pack is full) so I am guessing that your pack is operating on the "bottom" 25% I've never been able to figure out what makes them stop. The best charger for small radio batts inmop is the hobbico elite or even an old wall charger that doesn't stop.

Seems that the pack I know is fully charged is going to discharge like it is suppose to.. This means the Brand New pack I bought from my LHS isn't taking a charge... That's Great I'm guessing batteries are an Non-returnable item too.

There's probably nothing wrong with the pack and a slow forming charge will charge it to full, form the cells, balance it and have it ready for use or test.

Agreed- charge it slowly until warm (not hot) or do pack capacity/charge rate x 1.2 to give a charge time in hours.

Is it possible to change the peack sensitivity of the charger?

I have changed the settings so the max is 2000 mah.. It doesn't matter. The charger will discharge 1000 mah of the battery and then I'll go to charge it and it will only put 300 mah back on and tell me it is full.. This is on both 2000 mah Hydrimax Ultra's I have and one is brand new.. I have tried to charge and discharge the new one several times and it is always different numbers.. I think one out of 5-6 times it actually charged to the 2000 mah Max.. and that was maybe on the second or third cycle..?  I think I have a bad charger.

Most of them are that way. I'll bet out of a dozen of them I had 10 of them exhibit the same behavior.

Unfortunately I pruchased three of these chagers from Value hobby. Two, the fans worked for a short while and the 3rd the fan did not work at all. I received no support from Value Hobby. He said the problem was simple so take it somewhere and get it fixed. I told him that these new chargers should be under warranty and Value Hobby should stand behind it. He then said I should check with the manufacture for further help. Value would not supply me with that information and it was not listed in the manual. So bottom line you get what You pay for!
