Hey guys. Im looking into buying the new Team Associated apex touring brushless car at some point, and noticed that its width is 190mm. Now theres a much better selection of 200mm bodies, so I was wondering, will a 200mm body fit fine without looking too weird?

It will look fine, but the off set of the wheels will be off. But HPI offer most of there wheels in different offsets to suit.

First u should select the tread width u plan to use, because that effects the required offset

Ah okay thanks. Could you please explain wheel offsets and tread widths? Never heard of those before...

Let's just focus on HPI wheels for now,

Tread Width - how wide the tyre is, 26mm and 31mm

Wheel Offset - is the tread location compared to the hub. 0 offset has the hub inline with the centre of the tread. The more offset they have the more the tread is moved outwards making the track width wider, there is 0, 3, 6 and 9

Here is a old post of mine that might be usefull,

ahhh funny u say that... Sus this.... I wrote this up to help some one els... Looking at this I think u are running 31mm wheels, and ur measurements are by 0.5mm.
31mm with 3mm offset should overhang 18.5mm with a 12.5mm inner measurement vs ur 13mm
31mm with 3mm offset should overhang 21.5mm with a 9.5mm inner measurement vs ur 9mm

It all depends on what width wheels u run... there are 26mm & 31mm

A 26mm with 0 offset will hang out 13mm
A 31mm with 0 offset will hang out 15.5mm

A 26mm with 3 offset will hang out 16mm
A 31mm with 3 offset will hang out 18.5mm

A 26mm with 6 offset will hang out 19mm
A 31mm with 6 offset will hang out 21.5mm

A 26mm with 9 offset will hang out 22mm
A 31mm with 9 offset will hang out 24.5mm Ive never seen a HPI 31mm with a 9mm offset tho

The easyest way is work out what u have now... fit the body & mesure the gap. every body is diffrent

Sometimes u can gain up to 1mm offset with spacer behind the wheel & shim up the hubs

have a read of THIS

Not all 1/10 TC bodies are either 190 or 200 (ive seen some 185mm and under along with over 200mm)
A 200mm Body use to be more for 1/10 Onroad Nitro cars ( NTC3, RS4, 4Tec etc ) but the 1/10 nitro onroad scene has just about all but died so there are alot of 200mm onroad bodies still being sold on the market. I havnt seen Hpi make a new 190mm body shell in while, on that note Hpi sells most of the Sprint 2 with a 200mm body and offset wheels.

Edit: Since RCU wont let me upload the pictures I just took this had to be edited

phmaximus - ah okay that makes sense now. Thanks.

iexion - Oh okay thanks thats good to know. Yeah I heard about 200mm being mainly for nitro. There seems to be a much bigger variety of 200mm bodies than 190mm.
