First, let me start by saying that I love this motor...

the exhaust header for my tuned pipe cracked the other day (not a crash... I think the nut loosened up enough to rattle a crack in the flare)... I fretted... tried to fix it myself with a tubing flaring tool (no luck) and got lucky and found a guy who had one laying around... this is 10year old Central Hobby header! I got it for $40 bucks (worth it to keep the motor running).

I went to install it and found that the nut bottoms out before the flare gets locked into place (so.. the header is still loose but there are no more threads left to turn) make sense? I asked a local machine shop if he could clean up the thread in the head and the seat (where the flare butts up inside) but he wanted $200 for his time (OUCH!!!) can't afford it... you guys have any ideas?

Status: offline 		Call Central Hobbies and ask them to send you some copper gaskets for YS headers, basically they are copper washers that fit in the hole and have a center hole the same size as your exhaust port. You might need two depending on the head and header. Also, if you need another header in the future, I'd try the NMP header that Central has for YS engines.

Status: offline 		Just spent some time typing a response regarding this then realized that the original post was in regards to a header with a tuned pipe.... Petec's advice to call central is spot on.
