Hi All,

I'm in the market for a new Hawk, a bit torn by the Tomahawk-Design hawk and the Comp ARF Skygate Hawk. Which would you guys recommend based on experience, ease of build, parts fitting properly, flying characteristics, service, quality, gear, wait time on delivery and parts? I see that they are pretty close in price, so that is not a hugh point. Skygate can be bought with a few select paint schemes, does anyone know of the quality of the paint job from the factory? I also read somewhere here on RCU that one of the two flies a bit floaty, I can't remember which one, has any experienced this kind of flying characteristic of either?

Thanks in Advance guys!

Cant go wrong with either as they both fly great. I have several of both with lots of experience and the Tomahawk, IMO, edges out Skygate. Ill have to spend more time to write out all the details, but The Tomahawk is my pick. Its been called floaty, but only if you fly it with small motor. Put in a big motor and dont build for WJM and its perfect!
Thomas is great to deal with and very responsive to any questions, concerns, parts, etc. Gear are ridiculously nice. Best manufacturor IMO. Turbo Ditti does some incredible work. Kits are immaculate. perfect in every way.. Easy to build. fit perfect. Best flying jet ever IMO. service perfect, quality perfect, gear perfect, wait time is probably in stock. Skygate is much more prefab and comes painted if thats what you wish.
Ill spend some time tonight with more details.
Scott

isn't the Skygate/Carf hawk a bit smaller than the Tomahawk?

By just a little bit. I too have been considering both and concluded for me the SkyGate / Carf version better fits the bill. There are lots of previous builders out there that can help, great build threads and accessories and the airframe in the end is much more prefabricated for the price I am paying. I have also had a good experience with Carf on my Tutor and UFlash. Any issues have been dealt with very professionally by the reps.

So, they say vote with your wallet....my money has been sent to CARF.

Good luck with your decision!

I was considering both for a long time. About Tomahawk, the dufficulty I faced was USA prices and number of options. I read the list at least 15 times and could not figure out what I need for a regular flyer and what not. Also, the size is huge if you have not seen one in person. As for the CARF Skygate, it does not seem that is available for rlease yet. but, I watched Scott's Tomahawk fly and it looked great.

I think you should buy the Skygate, then we can get u and Dean to fly them together at Princeton and compare. ill be happy to try each one out and provide you with an independent evaluation.

I saw Scott's Tomahawk Hawk at BITW and my head exploded... wait, that was the sinus infection. In all seriousness, it was amazing and the presence was incredible.

OooooOops. Brain fart there. Dean already bought the Skygate so you need to buy the Tomahawk.
