I have built a PT .60 with my 4yr. old to hopefully teach him to fly on one of these days and also for his younger brother. I do not want to go glow with this plane and was wondering if anyone has done a gas engine on a similiar sized plane. Span is 72" and I think it has 880+ squares of wing. I put lots of lightening holes in the h. stab and vertical stab along with a few in the back edge of the fuse to get rid of some of the excessive weight this build has. It is built solid for sure. Anyways, I have a G20 on a Dragon Lady with similiar wing area and it flies wonderfully....don't know if that would be too much weight on the front or not. DLE 20 or some other????? Opinions?

Thanks.

Any of the current beam mount 20cc gas engines should work well in your model.

The two PT-60's I had needed a lot of nose weight to balance with .61 two stroke and .91 four stroke glow engines.

I have a 21cc weedwhacker conversion on a pt-60. Had to shorten the nose a bit, but it flies like a trainer. No excess of power, but enough to fly. The DLE 20 will be much lighter and have considerably more power.

Wow, thats cool. How are the in flight/landing manners and do you know what it weighs RTF? I have def. gotten more excited about finishing this thing now. Its all framed up and RTC. I guess though, I will need to redo the firewall as I installed blind nuts for the Saito .72 I was going to mount in it.
