Status: offline 		We need some help figuring out how to start creating an rc reciever for a light switch. We want to turn the lights in a room on and off just by sending a signal from an RC remote to the reciever. We have a 5V motor system from an RC car but don't know how to use that it in. We were thinking about using that motor in part with a relay to activate the switch. The light switch is not physically being moved, but all of this is happening inside of the light switch.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Status: offline 		What kind of transmitter do you plan on using?  This kind of project can be accomplished with a garage door replacement transmitter/receiver such as can be found at home centers.  They consist of a small transmitter and a separate receiver that can control up to three devices.  The output of the receiver is relay contacts that can easily handle the current you are trying to switch and can usually just be wired across the light switch terminals so that when the switch is off, you can control the light with the remote.

Status: offline 		If you want to build your own switch there are plenty of low cost circuits available on the internet just us a suitable relay for your light here is an example

Status: offline 		 I just built that circuit for controlling an on board glow driver.  I didn't have a strip layout so I did my own and came very close to what you posted.  It works as advertised to switch in a paralleled AA nimh pair of batteries.  I get 55 mins of glow on a full charge.
