Status: offline 		I am sure that this topic has been done to death but being a new user of Hitec servos and the programmer I would like some info on the correct way of using it.

The instructions only give the basics and I am becoming a little frustrated at my inability to work it out. Specifically, when on the bench (ganging two servos together) I am able to set rotation, DB and the centres but blowed if I can set the end points with any degree of accuracy.

I am beginning to wonder if the fault is not with my feeble mind (it's the age thing) but maybe the programmer is faulty. If you can point me in the right direction (or left, pun intended) as to a thread on the use of this item I would be most appreciative.

Status: offline 		I'm going to make a video of programming this weekend, hopefully. What I do is program the servos on the plane... remove the linkage... then plug the servo into the Programmer. I program some arbitrary center and end points and write them down (e.g., 0, -120, +120). Then I plug the servo into the RX only, turn on the radio, put back on the linkage, and check it there. I make notes on my paper of where I think I need to go from the original arbitrary numbers (maybe now it will be to try -10, -130, +110). I'll hook back up to RX only and check again. It takes me between 3 and 5 times to get this perfect. I have never got it in less than 3 tries and never taken longer than 5 tries to have it perfect. I always get flawless, absolutely perfect, linearity between elevator halves, etc.

Status: offline 		Joe; please, please, please, make the video soon I am just about ready to pull my hair out. I have 2 aileron servos on each wing and I set the center on each one independently then hook the y-harnnes back up and power up the programmer and one of the servos will move and be off center. I know I am doing something wrong but with the limited instructions sent with the unit I can't figure out what it is

Status: offline 		Are you using a Futaba TX? If so the center point is 1600us and the Hitec servos have a 1500us center.

Status: offline 		Yes Mike I am using Futaba. I am using an 8u super tx. and a pcm rx. the problem I am having is when I set the center point on each servo independently then hook them together with a y harness and power them up one servo moves off center the other remains stationary. any ideas?

Status: offline 		Joe I just watched your video's, nice job. It will be a lot of help to people that are just learning how to program these things.

Have you ever used the "measure pulse" on the programmer? I measure the pulse output of my radio and then use the subtrim on the radio to get the center to 1500us. Setting the radio center to 1500us allows the radio and programmer to center exactly with each other, no switching back and forth to check if you got it right. Mike states above that Futaba's center at 1600us rather than the 1500us but my 8U and 9C center around 1520us.

The end points don't work as well because no matter what I try I cannot get a Futaba radio to 900us and 2100us where the programmer sets the end points. My radios will only go to about 925us and 2070us at 140%. It will work fine as long as your not trying to get your throws to move bevel to bevel. I always end up with slightly less throw when I plug the servos in to the radio than what I had with the programmer for this reason, as long as you can set your throws a little longer than you are trying to achieve this works fine.
