I recommended a 17.5T brushless system to a friend so he can compete in the stock 2WD class with his Losi SCB.  He ended up with a KO Propo BLZ350 ESC and a 17.5 sensored motor.  This is the first time I've messed with sensored brushless systems before and I was initiallly impressed by how smooth it operates.  That was until we experience an unusual phenomenon.

The best way I can describe it is like this:  as I'm driving, usually above 1/4 throttle, the motor or ESC "blips" what seems like either brake or reverse causing the tires to lock for a fraction of a second.  I used the included programmer and there weren't any settings pertaining to sensor options.  The rest of the options are common adjustments like brake force, initial start, reverse lock, etc...

The battery is an Orion 5400 45C 2S and it's brand new and works well in my SC10.  I'm ruling out the battery.  I'd hate to think it's the ESC but, are the sensor wires directional?  Lastly, he's still using the stock Losi radio until he gets a Spektrum transmitter.  I thought it could be the radio but, it worked just fine with the stock brushed motor and also with a Castle Sidewinder SCT that was installed for a short period of time.

I hope the KO system isn't defective.  I was thinking it could be the neutral deadband and/or the drag brake setting.  Any thoughts?

I figured it out.  It was the Spektrum radio system. I haven't narrowed it down between the transmitter or the receiver but, the car worked flawlessly with my Futaba 3PKS.  This isn't the first time I've heard of glitching Spektrums.

ya I've heard of glitches where ESC's hate certain radios (like CC's ESC's) so hearing that isn't surprising at all.
Don't understand why that happens as the input to the ESC should be standard.

Would a glitch buster capacitor help out here?

Maybe that spektrum receiver could not take the power or your taxing the bec. Either way a glitch buster would not hurt.

There's no way I'm drawing that much current.  It has the stock servo and that's it.  I might understand if I had some high speed / torque monster Savox servo in there.  But, it wasn't an issue for my Futaba receiver.  Could re-binding do anything to help out.

I doubt it.
Only way I fixed similar issues with my CC was to buy another radio(one reason I dislike them, and don't recommend them)...
could always check if there was a firmware update to the ESC if it has a programmable firmware, or see if anyone hacked one to work with your radio. Doubt this will work seeing I don't see any people with this issue(hell I don't see many threads from my search on the ESC period 98% of what I found was the mfg description on shop sites)
