Can anyone tell me if the crankshaft from a YS 61-AR is the same as, or a drop in substitute for use in, a YS 61-R Long Stroke engine?

Thanks

I am pretty sure that the crankshaft is the same. Call Richard at YS parts & service (775-267-9252) and he could verify that.

Thanks for reply and suggestion. Since I posted, I looked at the YS support website and found the crankshafts have different part numbers and prices, which seems to support the need to ask the question. I'll contact Richard tomorrow to see if one can be used in place of the other.

I checked both manuals and both the 61 AR and the 61 LS use the same bearings so there's a good possibility that the AR could work in the LS.

The AR has two rings that go between the bearing and the countershaft. If you already have it put it in to see whether it lines up correctly with the conrod. They both have the same stroke so the only concern would be the conrod alignment.

One of the guys here posted some shots of the AR vs the R version and I noted that the AR crank was cut differently; the intake opening was rectangular as opposed to oval in the case of the R version. I suppose it will fit, just ported more conservatively. Somebody here may remember the thread, it was Atlanta or Aurora perhaps?
