I think I may be right in thinking that this was supplied as a part kit from Falcon aviation here in the UK. Top marks to all involved.

I thought this one was big, Daves original twin Merlin 160 engined Vulcan after we re-engined it from twin TJT 3000 power. Test flying at Hucknall on a pretty breezy day.

Latest one is even bigger with quad Merlin power.

Rob.

There is video of it flying on Youtube. This is really a man sized rc jet!! I have seen it at Gaydon both during construction and after completion. It is just vast and I cannot imagine how anyone would have the energy to sand and fill all that balsa.

I am retired but I can only manage a small scratch built project. No retirement is not the answer.

Hmmmm...I think you should give yourself way more credit John, I would hardly call a 6 engined Arado or the Sprite engine small scratch built projects! I could not contemplate either without being a full time builder and/or retired I take months just to do the install on a modern artf jet.

For those that have not seen the story of the building of the Vulcan have a look at the LMA forum. I meant what I said about sanding all that balsa!!

http://www.largemodelassociation.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=913&start=80

For me this years project looks really tiny hence my comments. It is only 2m wingspan and is a Schapel sa882. It is modified to take a small turbine (Sprite) It is nice to have a model that will be nice and light and well under the weight limit. The plane is sheeted in thin ply so it has to be accurately built, no sanding possible!
