I have a low-time BB Super Smoke Pumper w/Control Valve that can be yours for $15.00 + $5.00 shipping. I used it for about one week before selling the airplane it was installed in. The buyer wasn't interested in smoke so I kept it thinking that someday I'd put it into another plane. It's been a few years, so it's probably not going to happen. Just PM me if you’re interested.

The BB is probably the cheapest without the generous offer from above. Otherwise, they all cost about the same.

That B&B system requires a large tap in the crankcase to work.
I have a pump but not the valve. I will give it to anyone that will send me $5.50 for a small USPS priority mail package to ship it to you.
I am not trying to compete with the other poster. I just want to get rid of it.

You can modify your muffler yourself. You just need ot add the smoke nipple at the right distance from the exhaust port.

AS for making your own smoke fluid, the good ones costmore because of the cost of the components to make them. I know because I blend for myself and a hobbyshop. you get what you pay for.

Funny you pulled up Mikes article. We were talking about the different systems when he was doing this how to article. We were both making them up from the windshield washer pump and had good luck with them. There were a couple of ways to adjust the amount of oil flow to the muffler too. I didn't read the article to see if Mike mentioned the different ways it can be done or not.

I was messing around with smoke for a little bit on a triplane. It had a DLE 30 installed and I modified the muffler as shown in the article. I may have missed something, but I was never quite happy with how dense my smoke was. It also seemed that you get lots of oil on your plane as well. I did have a metering needle before the muffler, but the positin of my copper tubing may have been off some inside the muffler.
One thing is for sure, there is a learning curve with smoke. If not careful, it can even effect how your engine runs. Certainly not plug and play. It is best to gather all the info you can for success. I will try it again when I get another suitable plane. I have the TME smart pump.

You don't always need a pump, I made a set up that works perfectly with no pump, the secret is in the nozzle that can produce a venturi effect from exhaust gas velocity,  an in line check valve and a pinch valve to turn smoke off and on, thats it. no pump no battery.
That being said, there are a ton of threads on here with various smoke pump selection topics.

The article indicates that light hydraulic oil which you can get at Walmart in 5 gallon buckets works as well.  EAA site so I expect they know what they are talking about.  I never tried it however.
