Yes I know it functions, but from the picture you can't tell if it a floating torsion bar or not. I was just asking for some confirmation, which I have now got.

Cheers

You can clearly see that it doesn't act the same way the stock Mato did.

Cheers!

Yes, but that was not the question.

Hi Dan Take very close look at the suspension you can see it pivots from the 2 pins(like the real one dose) ,having said that it does not work like the  original because the   sliding arms are fix.
Can only think there is a spring (of some kind)pushing these slider arms apart so making it function similar to the real one, probably similar to HVSS suspenstion.

All in all a good atempt at working suspension but they should have gone with the  Mato tracks and fitted a 75mm gun, after all the Panther had a 75mm gun as did the Panzer4 and Stug 3 ,so fitting a 105 so it can fire BBs dosnt hold water.

OK Thanks Pete

I think what you are telling me is they are not like the Mato metal ones, as the Mato metal towers do have sliding arms that float. So this HL one functions and supplies suspension action, but not like the metal Mato sherman towers that function more like the prototype which is the answer to the question I am trying to get answered. Although Gorehounds assessment and yours are different, so I am not sure I got the answer or not

I will be getting one, and that is regardless of what the answer to the suspension question is. So in time I will find out for sure myself

Hi

Pete is correct in that the upper leg of the arms is fixed to the lower and it does not slide as the MATO one does. Inside the main part of the HL units are a couple of springs similar to those on the internal side of one of the Tiger Is that push against a spar on each leg roughly where the pins pivot which gives them the spring action unlike the MATO one which has the vertically mounted springs that push down on the two arms. I tried to take pics but I cannot get a good shot that shows this sorry - my camera skills rather than my camera.

The metal upgrade mato ones do work more like the real ones than the HL do but when viewed from the side when running the HL ones do operate a lot more like the real thing than the stock mato ones fitted to the tanks as standard. I am happy enough with them for now until something better replacement wise (perhaps like the Mato ones) as they are fine for running about.

I hope this helps.

I believe your question was only about if it acted the same way the ORIGINAL Mato did, not if it was perfect. It's plastic and having it work the same way the metal Mato does is impossible.

In my opinion the HL suspension works GOOD ENOUGH, it's the tracks that are not correct.

Mike said one of the two are the wrong diameter. Don't remember which one.

So, I have means to correct that if only my appliances will quit breaking down and the meds didn't cost an arm and a leg, maybe I can afford to look into it.

Hi

The stock Mato tracks won't fit as they are slightly wider and do not go round the HL sprocket. Also the road wheels are narrower as a result and have a lot of sideways play in the MAto (stock) tracks. I do not have a set of their metal ones to compare but if they are the same width as the stock ones they will have the same problem - which is a shame as that was my original plan before receiving the tank

cheers

If it comes down to that, then I think the Mato sprocket will have to be used.

I was thinking that too but the rear idler will also be needed otherwise the tracks will have far too much lateral play as the HL one is also thinner than the Mato one. The road wheels too were also in the same boat.

Now I need to find my set of Mato sprockets as I cannot find them

Might just wait until the aftermarket boys release a set spcifically for the HL Sherman as it will only be a matter of time

cheers
