Status: offline 		As my winter project I decided to overhaul an old 1/3 Laser 200. The airplane was built around 12 or 15 years ago and after the owner crashed on takeoff it wound up in my attic for the last 10 years or so. I was going to just make repairs on the fuse and cowling, and recover the whole thing, but as I started weighing the fuse I just couldn't bring myself to leave all that extra lumber in the airplane, so here we go with a brand new scratch built fuse using just a couple of old parts from the original fuse. The fuselage without cowling landing gear canopy and tail feather group weighed in at a hefty 4 lbs. 3 ozs. So hear are a couple of pictures, the forward fuse sides alone that out weigh the entire 60" new fuse.

Is that one of the Lanier kits, the one's with the door skin skdes, and plastic turtle deck?  I kind of expcet it isn's due to the wing construction.

If so, I have a cad drawing for a set of formers for the turtle deck I would share with you. I have one that wasn't built the best to begin with and was never flown and when I got a good look at what I had bought, I started to Re-kit it so I could fix a number of build errors.  The project was put on the back burner and the bones are still hanging in the garage.

First let me thank you for your generous offer my friend, but the truth is this was originally kitted by a company called "Precision Built" and there was no plastic parts in these kits. The kit was a very fine kit for the time period but too heavy by todays standard, at lease IMO. My target weight for this with a 50cc power plant is 14.5 to 15.5 lbs. The Lanier 1/3 scale Laser can come in at that weight so I am hoping to get there with this one.

Good luck with your project, it is a nice looking plane when finished.

You know, I have had that .75" thick honeycomb panel as a building board/sanding board for the last 15 or 20 years now. That thing has seen allot of builds now that I think about it.
