frist twin how much battery would be good.....motor is rated at 4.8 to 6.0 volts........thinking 2200 mil sub c pack?

Use 4.8V and 2200 IMO is a little overkill. Nickle metal batteries would be a little lighter then sub C nicads.

Just as a suggestion, I tried one of the ultra IBEC's and I don't think I'll ever go back to using a seperate ignition battery.

Gives you optically isolated ignition kill, filters and voltage regulator in one small package, and one less battery to mess with.

I also use an ibec for the ignition on planes where I have a redundant flight pack(lipo/life) and tie it into the redundant pack.  It's been working fine so it probably makes sense to do it to planes with a single flight pack ....just use a slightly higher mah pack.
