Status: offline 		OK fellas where can I find a fiberglass cowl for my 72" DH Beaver that I just started from plans purchased from the Air Age plans store.  I'm guessing this to be a 60 size plane.  The print called for a 40-50 size engine.  I hope to install a small GASOLINE engine.  The print stated the cowl could be purchased from Northwest Hobby Supply in Oregon, however, they seem to be out of business.  FRP Spec.'s has one for a 40 size and a huge one for a 22%.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

Status: offline 		I have a Unionville Hobbies 96" Beaver and I purchased a cowl from them at a very reasonable price. They also make a 72" so I assume you could purchase one from them. Unionville does not have a web site and I cannot find their phone number, but maybe someone else with chime in with it. Fiberglass Specialties Inc. makes tons of cowls so you might try them.

Status: offline 		Maybe not what you wanted to hear, but a "Plan B" for you:
I browsed carefully thru the housewares at Walmart and found a 2 quart pitcher that made a good cowl.  Measured the depth ( including the right thrust and downthrust offset) and lopped it off.  I had to grind away where the handle had been, but this presented a minimal blemish when I positioned that area to be cut away for one of the holes in the cowl.  Polyethylene is impact and vibration resistant, so it served well. 
In an AMAZING (for me) demonstration of planning and forethought,  I selected the covering to match the color of the cowl. Polyethylene does not accept paint well.  BTW: This is a Senior Telemaster that I "Beaver-ized"
Less than $5.00.

That's probably your best bet. I've seen some Beaver cowls that aren't exactly scale, which is as unorthodox as an FW190 with an incorrectly shaped cowl. Nice build you have going there also, and if I were to build a giant scale, the Beaver would be at the top of the list. Currently I have a 24" version, with scratch built floats like yours.

Status: offline 		Kevin I'll probally drop this Beaver Cowl form but will continue the other one on the plane build itself.  I'll make a point to post some closeup pics of the gear setup for the floats.  They are really easy to do if you have the right materials, a few hand tools,  and a small vice.  Their fun!
