I just bought a magnum 180 2 stroke used . bearings felt a bit rough. I pulled the backplate and the rear bearing is rusty. Thought I would tear it down and put in new bearings. I have the engine apart with the sleeve out but there is not enough clearance to get the connecting rod off the end of the crankpin. Does anyone have any knowledge on how to get this thing apart. ive been in rc for 20 years so this isnt my first engine rebuild , but this on has me stumped.

You need to clean the castor off the wrist pin up inside the piston where the rod connects to the piston. Cleaning the castor off will allow you to take an Allen wrench and gently pull the connecting rod towards the rear end of the case.

You just hook the "L" portion of the allen wrench around the back side of the rod through the rear end of the case where you removed the rear cover..

Once the rod moves you should have enough clearance to get the rod off the crank pin.

I use Dawn Power Disolver, a couple squirts, wait ten mins....

i dont know this motor but ive found in the past sometimes you need to be at bdc and use a transfer port to gain enough rearward movement. Greg

You also need to remove the cylinder sleeve too.
