I received the Ki-61 Hein Sr kit for Christmas.  I plane on starting on it some time in the next month or so, but I was wondering what would be good to use to make patterns of all the parts so if I need to replace anything later I will have the pattern or I could scrach build another one if I wanted to someday. Also if anyon out there has build this kit and you have any good advice then please let me know.  I might do as a build thread if any one is interested. Let me know.

When I say pattern I mean a template.

I just trace the parts on a piece of paper. When I build the follow up model I copy the tracings and then paste the copy to wood and cutout. I built the Ki-61 many years ago and don't remember much. I do remember losing it on takeoff after reinstalling equipment after having it out of service. Maybe I put stuff in the wrong spot and had the CG off. I've had at least 4 ki-61's since; from 1/12th combat models to a Don Smith 86" version.

Butcher paper. I do all the templates on one sheet so if I need more I can get a copy at Kinko's. Really easy to do, I make a copy of every part in the kit.
