9.6v seems a bit high....but if the battery isnt hot to the touch then you are fine. All batteries charge above their respective voltages. The voltage spec is the "nominal" reading. Fact is, after you take it off the charger the voltage likely drops to around 7.4-8.0, and the second you punch the throttle the voltage drops (due to the load on it) to 7.2v If you are still concerned, you can lower your charger's charging rate. You shouldnt be charging that battery at more than 2amps. You certainly can charge it higher than that....but it will shorten the life of the battery. In the day, racers used to charge their 3000mah packs at 6amps! But they could afford to replace the battery after just a few races.
