I have been running a water pump on one of my boats that also uses a clutch. The pump has stoped working and I was looking at not using one as I don't idle the boat, once in the water it is going. Just wanted to hear what others think. The first photo is the mono I have removed the pump from, and the second is the setup for the twin.

Status: offline 		I never use water pumps clutch or not,you dont need one just be sure you can shut off the motor with your radio if need be.

Status: offline 		 If you never sit it in the water just idling why bother with a clutch????

A clutch looses you power because you have got more rotating mass. No clutch will release more power + it will pick up better from low revs + no issues of it slipping if its getting tired!

Status: offline 		Racers never run either clutches or water pumps.  It takes some forward motion at launch without a clutch, but not much.  If you never idle the boat, you don't need them.  With short periods of idling, you don't need a water pump.

Jack,
I run boats by myself, no helpers, so I launch the boats myself, I need a few seconds to pick up the transmitter after launch, so a clutch allows the boat to sit there with out taking off.

Status: offline 		If you set the idle right you can just drop the boat in and it wont go far anyway and wont stall just need to play with the throttle controll till its set perfect.

Got out this arvo for a couple of short runs, water ski boats out on the lake slowed me down. The video is from a onboard GoPro. I am running with out the deck on untill I get it sorted out, only getting 15000rpm out of the motor at the moment, the cooling system is sorted, no pumps. HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL
