I bought 2 of these rc's last month and think they are great so far. My only real complaint so far is the weak plastic out drives keep snapping with light driving on pavement and on dirt (broke 4 already!) andI contacted redcat about when they will have metal out drives available like they do for the sumo's and was told my request would be passed onto their R&D department. I dont know if it's a coincidence or not but it seems as the factory replacement out drives are currently sold out every where. . .hmmm lol. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to prolong the life of these weak factory plastic out drives or if there are and parts from other rc's that are metal or that are stronger that will work with these rc's?

one good thing with redcats is that if they are out of stock, its likely one of their dealers will still have parts. I know they have 400+ dealers. Im not sure how many of them dropship(as I do) and how many have their own stock, but I know there are at least 2-3 redcat specific online stores....plus many redcat dealers on ebay.

I own the truck version. I did will for the 1st 6 packs (brutal beatings I must add) untill I tried to drive on the snow. Thats when my 1st outdrive snapped. I broke the other side trying to fix the 1st...lol.
Kinda sucks the rear and fronts are different as well.
I will buy the metal ones for sure.
Its an odd outdrive. No one else has anything like it...yet the end result is that it still has a hex so you can use any normal RC wheels.
I have enjoyed my tremor more that most mini RCs ive owned. I think its due to the acceleration...its a bit faster than most.
I have the stock li-ion and a 2s 800mah lipo pack for mine.
I have also added the alloy/oil shocks on the rear and a motor heat sink. I think the next needed upgrade is full ball bearing.

Thanks for the eBay link. I have actually purchased the 8 piece front and rear out drive spare parts from that eBay sell for about $12. I think$7.50 is a little much go 2 pieces. I have soured the net and you are right there are a lot of dealers but all the ones I have contacted are currently out of stock as well

They are awesome little RC's for sure. I bought the truck and truggy along with the oil filled shocks and heat sinks. It's cool to have both the truck and as they have different handling characteristic due to the different tires. I would buy metal out drives in a heart beat. Let's just hope redcat gets on the ball about making them.

you are having a big issue with these.
I feel the ball bearing set "may" help. I feel the bushings are not the best. Never seen ones that were serrated on the other side. Could make the fitment off.
Also, I found its tricky to get the wheel screw tightened to just the right point. On mine, I can tighten them to the point where the wheel wont turn freely. So I have to back them off 1/2-1 turn.
Another thing is your ride hight. I have truck on the lower setting. As with any model that uses dog bones, the higher the suspension the greater the angle on the dogbone and the more stress on both it and the drive cups. You might want to try lowering your ride hight if you have it up high.

But no matter what we try, the metal stubs will be the best way to go. I hope they get alot more upgrades out for the tremor soon. I will be interested to see if they offer a brushless upgrade...or perhaps even a brushless version.

Also, one other point of caution. DO NOT run your steering dual rate at 100%. I did and it killed my stock servo (redcat replaced of course) At 100% the steering arm will hit the servo case. This puts stress on the servo when you turn fully (to the left I think)
I let redcat know this issue and they are looking into it.
Make sure you dont run your steering rate at more than 90% to protect your servo.

I like the stock ESC setup as it is both 2.4ghz and has low voltage cutoff (for the stock battery and works with lipos) but it does pose an issue if you want to upgrade...as you have to do the radio/reciever/esc and servo all together.

Lots of snow out now, but I will take my tremor out tomorrow if I can (wrap it in saran wrap to protect electronics)

I have a few vids of my tremor:

Thanks for the feed back and tips nitro. I don't know what my deal is with breaking my out drives. I have my suspension set up with the least amount of angle on my dog bones and I have also played around with how tight I tighten my wheel screw. The only luck I've had at preserving my out drives is keeping it around 50 percent throttle but where is the fun in that lol. It's always my rear out drives that snap. The fronts haven't suffered any casualties this far.  I need to lessen my steering rate as I did run them maxed out. I hope they have metal ones available ASAP. I watched your vids before bought my tremors. some good bashing. I believe there is a brushless upgrade already in the parts catalog that came with the trucks. I think a brushless set up without metal out drives would be useless though at least in my case

Not sure if this will work, but it will put less strain on the out drives. Try loosening the slipper clutch so it is not so tight and has so much power go straight to it.

that may very well help!
Mine could be set looser than Kanzen's. Any time I punch the throttle I can actually hear my slipper clutch alittle.

The rears would be more likely to fail for 2 reasons : they are longer, and the rear of the truck has more weight/traction than the front.

I emailed redcat asking about the metal stubs. Waiting to hear back. They are out of stock on a few of the tremor parts....so Im betting they will have a shipment of tremor stuff soon. Lets hope this includes more upgrades.

Redcat doesnt currently have a brushless upgrade kit for the tremor. They had sold the "tremor" before. The current tremors are an updated chassis. The old ones there was a brushed and a brushless version....and thus a brushless upgrade kit. The manual I believe still reflects that old kit.
Based on my experience, the fact that redcat isnt offering a BL version, and my opinion of the chassis I dont think a brushless upgrade will be good. With metal stubs and a good slipper setup, the driveline should hold. But honestly, brushless in these smaller models never works well. You just end up with a grossly overpowered model that handles like crap.
Ive had a traxxas mini summit vxl. It drove like crap. Over powered and always on its lid. I honestly have more fun with my stock tremor than I did with that summit.
But Ive also owned a traxxas mini slash brushed version. That truck was fun. Just the right amount of pwoer for the chassis.
I considered putting a tenergy brushless system I had into my tremor. But after driving it a few times I decided that the stock power is best suited for the size and handling of the truck, and that more power would just ruin the fun.
Lets face it, if you want 30+mph, you shouldnt have bought a sub $100 1/16 truck. These tremors are best for small homemade tracks and your driveway.

I hope to take mine out in the next few days and post some new vids. Lets hope my stubs last
