Hi all,

I just bought an old HPI RS4 mini (not micro). It included a Nosram Tomahawk esc,and a Nosram brushed Super Stock motor. I know the electronics are old, but they still work. The question I had is why would the motor run faster backwards then frontwards. It's kind of frustrating, because I know the motor goes faster than it's running right now, because it's better backwards. I've run across this with another car I have, but never knew why. I guess I could switch motor leads, but I was wondering why this would happen. Anyone know? Thanks for your help.

most likely u will have to change the wires around, very common, because some chassis require the motor to spin clockwise where otheres need anticlockwise.

u need to doubble check what direction are the brakes are kicking in too.
if the brakes are kicking in from reverse to forward, just swap the wires around,
otherwise the controller CH2 might need reversing

another thing to consider what throttle range are u using 50/50 or 70/30
and have u setuo the ESC to the radio gear

oh forgot to mention,

most Brushled ESC are 100% throttle and 80% reverse throttle, meaning the reverse power is reduced

reverse the throttle, reverse the motor leads recalibrate the ESC. That should make it run faster forward then reverse

I tried swapping the motor leads, and then reversing the throttle on my radio, and although the car ran faster, it kept stalling. I could get the car moving again by hitting reverse momentarily, and going forward, but would keep cutting out. When I put things back the way they were before, the car ran perfectly, although slower. Kind of a bummer.
