sshine440 -> RE: Re: Nitro Savage Speed truck (12/30/2012 1:43 PM)

here is the lightest  i've gotten it  7.558 lbs just chassis so far hope im not too light .

sv250 -> RE: Re: Nitro Savage Speed truck (12/30/2012 9:05 PM)

Trying to follow the drivetrain. Looks like direct 2wd. What's the tranny
Do now? Or is it still 4wd with shafts? Pic is too dark to tell

llkoolskillet -> RE: Re: Nitro Savage Speed truck (12/30/2012 9:11 PM)

It looks like the tranny is basically used for chassis support and brakes. From what else I can see its still AWD. Its definitely a highly modified savage[;)]

Bash-m-up -> RE: Re: Nitro Savage Speed truck (12/31/2012 7:19 AM)

Yeah it definitly looks like direct drive.

pipedup -> RE: Re: Nitro Savage Speed truck (1/4/2013 5:48 PM)

Good job sunshine on getting the speed demon on a diet, 7.5lbs for a savage is the lightest I have ever heard of [:-]! You should have no problem securing the "world's fastest nitro savage" title, go LL.

sshine440 -> RE: Re: Nitro Savage Speed truck (1/6/2013 1:32 PM)

Thanks Guys and good to see you SV ,,,i miss all of the good people on SC.... you to LL  ,,, im still waiting  on my motors but have done a few test runs ,,, with the cold weather i feel im wasting my time cuz it is so light and tires are so cold with no grip im having stopping issues or need to go to the salt flats lol no i need a bigger parking lot , been out scouting for one that is smooth and have a couple picked out to test on but it will have to warm up first so keep checking here ill post results . and yes it is DD and trans is there for brakes and 4wd.

ejc34710 -> RE: Re: Nitro Savage Speed truck (1/7/2013 8:56 PM)

Borneoben -> RE: Re: Nitro Savage Speed truck (1/10/2013 6:56 AM)

Yes this will be interesting!

Do you have a build thread anywhere showing all the mods you have done?

OR do you have some better photos you could share with us?

It looks amazing

Cheers

Ben

sshine440 -> RE: Re: Nitro Savage Speed truck (1/10/2013 1:07 PM)

The  truck started as a xl then as time went on and the need for speed to try to keep up with llkoolskillet on savage central i have got to 54.6 with this pic . had a stock lrp.32 and 3 speed  weighing 10.5 lbs ,, but had to go on a diet  and a moded mill so im wating on the picco from Rick Brake at RB modes and we will see if 65 mph is possiable .

sshine440 -> RE: Re: Nitro Savage Speed truck (1/11/2013 6:50 AM)

http://s1249.beta.photobucket.com/user/bigbird440/media/REC_0007.mp4.html  my first video and i did not show the garmin reading my bad but will on next video ,,,,, 54.3 was the fastest on this video but i had other test runs at 56 mph but no proof so either believe me or not thats up to you .

Borneoben -> RE: Re: Nitro Savage Speed truck (1/11/2013 8:02 AM)

Thanks for that

Its not that i don't believe you its no odds either way its just nice to see the evidence that's all.

I will look forward to seeing your new motor run

Ben

sshine440 -> RE: Re: Nitro Savage Speed truck (1/11/2013 12:58 PM)

even when i had a 3 speed on a stock lrp .32 i had to tune in the third gear shifting paw ,, had to lighten it to make it shift later , but now i do not worry about this being direct drive now. lol

supertib -> RE: Re: Nitro Savage Speed truck (1/11/2013 1:28 PM)

i use to add a heavier spring to the third gear pawell .....worked the charm

llkoolskillet -> RE: Re: Nitro Savage Speed truck (1/11/2013 2:21 PM)

Neal what kind of spring did you use? I found that messin with the spring is super hard to find the perfect rate cause its either to much or to little. For me it is better to mod the pawl.

it was from some onroad car LOL>...not sure what tho...been a few years.....it worked awesome tho....tho I could see tweaking the pawle weight to fine tune the shift point..

llkoolskillet -> RE: Re: Nitro Savage Speed truck (1/11/2013 9:18 PM)

I know someone else that made pawls out of titanium. I might go that route as well. Might as well take my wasted titanium cvds and cut them down into pawls. SMH[:@]
