Chris Campbell is a name used for several scam schemes. The 'magician' is probably not the same person, which is another incredible story.

The facts he has given us are just out of the line. 6 employees, 300+ planes and no pictures, no one ever heard from him...but he claims to be a 'top builder' then admits he mostly assembles ARFs.

We have no proof that he is a thief, but that story really stinks.

The RC community is not that big and I haven't heard about him yet nor seen any of his work. The web site looks very unprofessional, horrible spelling, just like his responses here.

Be careful is all I can say

And I have great 'reverse' building skills. I can turn a perfectly flying plane into a box of sticks within a split second. It can be shipped very economically for a few bucks. And a good builder can make any plane he wants out of it

When the flying season starts in WI, I will start making some of these special kits again...

Sorry here is an email conversation between me and "Debbie" that I inquired about having a kit built. Conversation starts at the bottom:. I edited the email address for privacy.

It's amazing how it they do 300 planes are year but the one plane I want built could take up to 6 months!

once you are ready just call or email us and we will give you shipping instructions, We will be closed until jan 21st as Our builder and his help are out of town until then, I am just here doing calls and emails.

If you pick plan 1 the turn around time will be about 2-3 months.
if you pick plan 2 the time will be 3-4 months +
if you pick 3 plan the time would be 6+ months.

right now I know we have 2 kits in to be built so it will be the mid feb before we could get to yours.

just email us and let us know. if you pick plan 3 you would need to suply your servos, push rods, engine mount, engine, and TX & RX fuel tank ect.

best debbie,

He mentions on his website he has assembled over 60 ARF's in five months, that's twelve a month and not even close to the 300 he claims, but going by the reply e-mail he can hardly manage 2 a month.

The termanology he uses sounds like someone new to the hobby trying to fool us he knows what hes talking about. I dont think it's a scam but theres definatly a story behind it.

Hey I'm a professional builder of RTF's. I put the batteries in the transmitter. I do good work!!!!
And I thought that was only a nasty rumor being spread about you!!
This guys post just keeps getting better and better. I only hope it is really just one of the old regulars having fun with us?? According to the build inquiry just posted it's not a joke!! Scary!!!
Gene, when I was a young man I used to work at the bait and tackle shop on the Huntington Beach Pier baiting hooks for people. After only two years I was a Master.

He also claims he has 6 helpers, that is 2 ARFs per person per month. Doesn't that ring a bell?
Even with 300 ARFs per year you could not keep 6 people busy and go on a long vacation like they did now...you'd have the time, but not the money.

It simply does not add up. Now he only accept checks and money orders. Then you won't hear from him for months.
And people need to send him servos and engines,  would you trust him after getting all the shady story here?

And he even admits he has only build a few kits, anybody can put an ARF together, if you pay a flying buddy at your field a few bucks, he might do it for you.

I wonder how long it would take this inexperienced, idiotic, scammer, to get this far on a real build? I think at this point, this loser does not even deserve anymore airtime on this site. Unless we are just warning prospective "customers" to stay away.

I tried getting a moderators attention right after his initial post Oh well

Why come into a kit building forum and try plugging your ARF assembleing business? ARF's are not kits period. I don't have an issue with ARF's but they are not kits. I can't see one guy doing 300 ARF's in one year and doing a stellar job at it especially if he is doing work to go to Joe Nall.

I don't think the guys here seem stuck on themselves they just know what they are talking about. They post their build, pics, discuss building, resolve problems and so yes their opinion carries alot more weight than someone showing up professing to be a professional with a unprofessional web page showing some trainer ARF's.

Just my .02
Anthony

GB, you very funny man !

The name, address and home phone numbers all match a White Pages search. Looks like an over-the-top salesman IMO.  Who's never known a sales guy to stretch the truth? In this case, like it's contest rubber.

You gotta admit, it's an interesting thread to start the New Year.

He does mention actual kit building in his services. The "arf only" is just a backpeddle on his part being that he has been called out. Hard to believe something like this would be serious. But you never know.

Here is the actual quote from his first   posts

"Hello Everyone, My name is Chris Campbell, If You dont know me you will here more about me from magazines, and web sites, I am a top builder of some of the best flying birds out there, I do builds, repairs, and engine rebuilds, and engine work. my web site is www.rcairplanebuilders.com I would like to get to know you if you love the fly as much as I do. I fly scale and giant scale gas planes as well as sport planes. looking forward to you emails.

Chris Campbell,Best Choice of R/C Plane building in the USA!"

He doesn't mention anything about being  a   ARF  assembler.   Just that he's the  "TOP" builder of some of the best flying birds out there.   He do builds, repairs, and engine rebuilds, and engine work.

Later we find out he's only done a couple of  builds from kits.

I love the part :    Chris Campbell,Best Choice of R/C Plane building in the USA!"

Frank

If he builds 300 kits a year:

A) He would hire a pro to do his website (not a kid from college who cant even spell)
B) He wouldnt take half of Jan off
C) He would at least accept Paypal
D) Should I say more?
