Hello all readers,

This thread demonstrate a psychological reaction from so many in our human society.

The fact that so many postings took place in such a short time demonstrate that a large proportion of the human society are jumping on the occasion to degrade an individual if the opportunity arise.

I am not discussing whether the written comments are deserved or not.
I am only referrring to the tendency to jump on an opportunity to degrade another individual.

I am not endorsing that philosophy. Anyone feeling the way they did when reading the first posting could simply have ignored the posting.

I think the responsability for such a reaction lies with the education system.
Lots of improvement is needed on this aspect of  the education curriculum.

It is easy enough to post to correct spelling (and who never makes spelling errors or typos?) or correct mathematical errors but it can be done without degrading the individual character and/or personality.

When one degrades another individual he is actually doing worst to his own image and he is supported only by similar individuals.

Zor

Mr. Campbell  brought it upon himself by assuming his superior intelligents, craftsmanship and egomania.      The following posters only pointed out that he was no better than the general populous of this forum by pointing out the error of his ways.

When someone proceeds to advertise a business,  any business,  with falsifications and wild  acclaimations,  it should be dissected, analysed and clarified with feedback from those in which the advertisement was so aimed.

Anyone that makes such claims as this poster did, deserves the investigation and its results in an open forum.

Not only that,  BUT IT WAS FUNNY AS ALL GIT OUT ! ! !

This is worth repeating.
I thought the thread was a bit entertaining at first.
But more I read, more juvenile it became.

An open forum exactly showed the point I made.

Many just jumped on an opportunity to degrade another person.
That was not necessary and only showed what I referred to.
The person could simply have been ignored.

It sure looks like you and I are in full agreement and consequently you and I will not have a discussion on this point of vue.

Given the amount of scams we see today, I am glad we have a way of communicating this way and people get warned
before they loose a lot money.
The OP here made some impossible statements not only in his initial post, but also in later comments.
Lies may be accepted in most people's world, I'd call out a liar and watch him crash and burn.

A person will not be degraded for no reason here.
I remember there was one guy who would talk down on everybody asking 'inexperienced questions' in the gas engine forum.
He wasn't very successful with that attitude, even with support of some of the moderators. People massively complained about him
and he hasn't been here for a while.

No, your theory is not entirely true. Sure some comments were not necessary, but not really too far out of line

I don't think any of the comments were out of line.....this guy is truly a scammer trying to steal someone's hard earned American money. More power to the person who wants to shoot this guy down I say....hopefully it's enough to where he won't come around these parts again.

Now on the contrary, had the " silly" remarks carried on here been in regards to something more innocent such as a beginner (such as myself) asking a question that may obviously be a newb question, then sure, there should be outrage such as zor is pointing out.

This isn't a case of the bully beat down.

And yes, I am sitting in my lawn chair with just my undies on with an American flag wrapped around my shoulders.

Good posts, Zor.

Now we've all caught our collective breath and had a chance to reflect.

For those who believe CC is a scammer, what proof is there? Has anyone ever visited his shop, or know someone who was scammed by him? If so, post the evidence. He may have come on strong, but that's not a crime. So what if he has other part-time gigs? I thought someone who keeps busy is to be viewed as a good example, not belittled. I haven't investigated the years of experience discrepancy, but will.

I've never joined or approved of the mob mentality approach, in fact that sets off alarm bells for me. Many times the loudest in a mob turn out to have their own issues; fear, insecurity, etc. I'm not saying folks here have those issues, but there has been a lot of things said that can't be supported by the facts we have before us. Suppositions, presumptions, innuendo, and a lot of folks acting like it was the truth.

I just think we're all a little better than what's been displayed so far.

ok,ok I guess we all said what was on our minds and that is atleast honest.when I lived in maui ,guys would come thru saying that they and only they were the real slope rippers in socal and coming to hawaii they were there to take names..so we pretty much flew them into the ground..well actually they crashed and needed bags to pick up the pieces...then there were the guys that came quietly and ripped the slopes "with" us..we flew wingman with those boys..human nature is always to stand up against arrogance or grandiose egos..we are scratch builders so its always gonna be show then tell, not the opposite. anyways I hope the guy does ok but needs to remember that scratch / kit builder guys really know whats goin on concerning this hobby or in my case , real passion like alot of you guys. I'm gonna go see what you guys are up to now on you're builds...

Some do pull the trigger rather quickly without doing adequate research on a matter. This is a fast society with fast "food" so to state. The OP replied back early on some of the ridiculous statements that he had made, but since then we have had nothing to go on. Anything at this point is assumption without any facts.

Whether he is a scammer or not, that I don't know. What I do know is, based on his posts (since that is all I have to go on) I would not be desiring his services nor advising others to use them until I had the evidence I need to prove otherwise and even then there would be doubts.

Hello all readers (again),

I went through Chris Campbell website again this morning and paid particular attention to the text spelling.
I do not see any more typos or orthographic errors than the average postings in this forum. If anyone wants to report that it has been cleaned up, they are free to write accordingly. I did not take written notes of any misspelling when I first looked at it. No reasons to do that for any posting being read. Most of us make the occasional typing error when writing with a keyboard.

The claims made in the website are no different than most advertising we read.
Most service providers, manufacturers and distributors claim providing the best service, making the best product and offering and providing the best fast distribution.

So the fellow is trying to promote his business just like any other business people are doing.
I do not see any difference than what most businesses are doing.

What I highlighred in my previous postings is that many of the postings reacting to the original post #1 were reflecting on the fellow character and personality as appearing to be a dishonest person, a person trying to s c r e w up others asking for his services which no one is being forced to do. Like someone else than me recently posted, there is no indication that anyone got affected dishonestly and no one has reported having been s c r e w e d up.

It is absolutely common practice to claim "best product", "best service", "best quality", "best and fastest distribution" _ _ _ Quite obviously only one can be best and that is in the judgment or the interest of the individual making or reporting his thinking or trying to influence prospective customers. The whole advertising industry is acting that way and no one is jumping to blame the industry as being dishonest.

Looking at the fellow's prices for his services they are not what I could afford to spend and am not likely to use the services he offers but I do not see anything dishonest or wrongly intentioned in his writings and on his website.

The general response in this thread is typical of the reaction of very many individual jumping on an occasion to illustrate their state of mind. I find it regrettable and inappropriate.

Zor

Reflecting on the title of this  thread.

New Builder just join the forum

How do you interpet that title ?

New Builder . . . just join (joined ?) the forum

or

New . . . Builder just join (joins ?) the forum

It reminds me of the sign that says "Big Horse Show" _ _ _ What is big ? the horse or the show ?

The problem is the statement, not the individual that said it.

You mention how society degrades an individual if the opportunity arises. I think, in this fine example, the degradation is done by the individual who gloats in the online world. From the moment it was posted. The online world that is able to question/comment very rapidly the statement by him about his own talents.

Without any solid or substantial proof, why should anyone buy in the claims?.

There are many highly talented builders/fabricators here in this site, they don't even claim to be the best.

(Remember we just came out of an election year. The politicians do the same thing. We're tired of it.)

Show us what you've done beyond the average. Easy to do on the net. Your personal work only.

It would be like me going to a Hospital and saying, "Hey I'm new here and I'm the best Doctor ( insert what you can relate to here) Doctor's".

Ok I have to admit, I seriously thought this post was a joke of some kind when I first read it.

I mean really, a new member, with 5 posts, and he steps into a world with a lot of very strong talent and makes some outlandish claims about being one of the best? If this person is really in their 40’s, it seems odd that humility was not one of their life lessons, because a little would have went a long way here. Maybe ask for some feedback on the website, etc…

All in all, I have to say that looking at that original post; he kind of brought it on himself.

On the other hand, if this person is legitimate, I feel sorry for the guy because he was caught, cooked, chewed up and spit out before he even had a chance to reply. I wouldn’t have re-posted either. I see the website has already been updated to include more photos of covering and engine tear-down since the original post was made. Maybe he has been too busy to reply to this thread.
Originally I was thinking it was a joke, to stir the pot, and they are sitting back and watching the churn, and I was having a hard time taking this too seriously. But I am now not so sure. Either way, I think that he should be given a second chance, but seriously needs to tone down the self-affirmation a bit.

It has, at least, been an entertaining thread.

~Dave

chris, you badly presented yourself to a very core group of hobbiest whove been around the block countless times. Not sure your even a legit biz, which you can prove by providing your FIN.

I just want to get this straight, Zor is going to lead a discussion of proper interweb etiquette? That's a good one! And you can kiss this thread, which was a fun and silly thread up until now goodbye, because once Zor attaches hismself to a thread it's all about the Zor until the thread is strangled to death.

By the way, when someone pays this guy to build a plane, assemble an ARF, fix an engine, expecting the work of an "expert with 30 years experience" and he returns a plane built by an novice with only a few simple sport planes under his belt and no idea how to get a thrust washer off a glow engine, then yeah, they've been scammed.
