Status: offline 		thanks phmaximus, I don't know how I missed them cause I searched ebay and gumtree for stuff and I didn't find anything interesting. 

That thunder tiger xxb caught my eye since I can find parts for it in Australia and its rtr and has the same receiver as my ttr mt4 radio so I can bind them both to the same radio.......

Looks like a much better deal than a df02 kit, and this is brushless too

I am going to read more on this buggy and if it looks good, I am going to get it

Most 2 wd cars can't fit a 550 and some 4wd cars/buggies will be super tight plus uncontrollable with most 550 motors. They were designed for 4wd short course vehicles that are heavier and can handle the power. For bashing get a good high kv 540 for 1/10 buggies and can do that on a budget

Status: offline 		Firstly, I never said to put 550s in 2wd cars. Secondly, most 2wd cars can take a 550, there is not usually a limit on can length in a rear motor, rwd car. Again though, 550s in 2wd is pointless.

What were designed for 4wd short course? 550 motors? I think not, they've been around since long before short course. They were popularized by short course, sure.

For bashing a 1/10th 4wd, don't get a high kv 540, get a low kv 540 4 pole, or a 550.

Anyway, I think we're getting away from the point, which is that he already has a 540 motor he wants to use. Therefore, he is limited to either touring cars, 2wd off road or very lightweight 4wd off road.

Status: offline 		It wasn't meant for you to take to heart these motors have been tried in 2wd and were to tight for the gearing that needed to be ran. We all understand what you are saying and I didn't say you said to put into a 2wd. Just stated they should not be put into them. I've had a pro 4 in my sct 2wd track only truck it was overkill but fun if you could get it to hook up. I won a few races with it and went back to 540 6.5t and still a beast just more usable power. Basically we both are trying to say should only put in a motor that somone will be able to use the power and still keep money in the pocket. I do apologize if I came off sounding like you were telling people the oposite. As long as we are all having fun with this hobby/sport that's the main point.

Bad products, bad product positioning, exhorbitant pricing, acquiring popular brands and doing NOTHING with them, the list goes on...their product and market research staff need firing all at once.

I agree with you that HPI has gone nuts lately, have you seen what motor they are putting in the new brushless blitz?

I wouldn't get any of their new offerings, but the HPI E-firestorm is an older design and in my opinion one of the vehicles they have done right. It share parts with blitz so parts support is good

The Losi 22 is stuck in my head, so pretty, I will have to get it and put nice electronics in it after I beat the crap out of the e-firestorm.

At least I will get to know if I like 2wd cars before I spend $450 on the losi 22 (that price is for the kit + my choice of electronics, not the rtr)

yup agree
old HPI models good

new ones are mostly rubbish

Then there is the we screw the US over on most new RC's for at least a year thing that irks me

and then getting hoboa distribution contract, and only selling 3(2 of which are pretty much the same thing) out of all the RC's they make...

well the recon is a tad more durable then the other 2 as it didn't snap a chassis on stock power, and was able to handle brushless
just its shock towers, rims(seriously these shatter under stock power hitting mild bumps), and the piece that holds the arms on in the front(don't even think it has a name as I've neer seen another RC divided up like this) should be made out of a better material, and parts need to be broken up from the big bag groupings they did and charge ludicrous prices for. Outside those pieces its not a bad RC, but upgrades do exist(albeit from another manufacturer not many people heard of) for most of them cheaper than the stock recon parts...
