I have flown at all those places too, and have flown with Cal at Wisconsin and Indy Warbirds.
May have you on VCR I filmed at Bloomington one year.
Good luck with the rest of the build and look foward to seeing Cal fly it!

With 11 inch Cowles it would be awesome to see the scale engines in it. Four of the evolution 9-90's. Or better yet for of these :-)

I have seen one of these fly on 4 x DA50's. It was not too much.

A very impressive model both on the ground and in the air.

I heard the Aussie one flew well on the 50's, but the guy wanted more power and upped it to 85's. Then ( only what I heard) the tail came apart in flight. 62's should be fine. Good luck.........Doug

Not correct on the engine upgrade. How do I know? I picked up 2 broken DA 50's while helping retrieving the wreckage.

It had just been fitted with new props which did provide an increase in performance. Not that he was chasing more performance, just had broken the original Solo props and changed to something more available at the time.

The tail structure has been redesigned as a result of this aircraft being lost due to flutter of the elevators which caused the tail plane to blow apart.

It would not look right with the Evolution radials with enlarged blisters on the cowl.

The cowls are only 10 inches wide.

Ask the Aussies if they were flying at FULL throttle, when the stab blew off. I seriously doubt it, with DA50s on it.

I stand corrected. I knew they had changed something. The vid was breathtaking. I do think the 62's make the same or even less power, but weigh more. We will be watching the progress. I always wanted one but size was a limiting factor. Transport was difficult. It was a wallet breaker........Doug

By the way, I had a Don Smith ( 1/9 scale) with Zenoah G-23's. It was good but not overpowered.........Doug

Wes, she is looking great.
I once drove 30 miles on short notice just to see the real Memphis Belle refuel and take off enroute to an air show. It was so cool as they started all 4 engines and then taxied, then took off. Priceless memory!

I used to use Enviro-tec epoxy. I loved it as no smell. Where do you find it these days?
R,
Mike

local true value has it in stock. I got hooked when I went for a ride and was able to sit in the pilots seat for 10 minutes and make 4 turns in it.

Damn, I will go for a ride the next chance I get, I missed it the last 2 times because of work. I've dreamed of sitting in the pilots seat but to actually turn the plane would make me wet myself in a good way lol....

I had to pay 585.00to go for the ride and fly it. ride was 1 hour and 10 min in the pilots seat. I did take my cam corder and camera. I have some great shots from in the nose. They had a raffle the same day for the same ride at a dollar a ticket. My dad was along with my brother who had a broken foot, dad bought a ticket and then had to leave so he gave it to my brother and guess what, he won the ride. He had received the call the same night and thought I was playing a joke on him. I went back the next day to watch him go for his ride. I was for my 30th birthday. Something I will never forget.

I talked to Scott today at libertyfoundation.org and asked for this years schedule and about military discounts. He told me they are actually working on the new schedule and that being in the military I get a $100.00 discount so the first chance I get I hope to be sitting up there in the pilots seat. Dude I'm like a kid right before christmas now since I know they will be here in my area twice this year...
