This is a topic to speak about 1/5 scale FG sportline brushless convertion.

So here is the configuration of mine:



  • Fine tuned chassis with the "Formule France" specs
  • Front and rear sway bar
  • GRP tyres
  • fully reinforced drive train with all steel pinion and FRP spur gear
  • Alfa 156 WTCC body
  • FG Brushless Conversion kit
  • Toro X528 780KV brushless motor
  • 8s 5000mah ZIPPY lipo
  • Trackstar/TORO EX 200A ESC
  • Castle Creation Pro BEC

    Status: offline     		For the current setup i am still waiting to receive my new brushless motor the TORO X528 780Kv, so i haven't run it yet ...

    But with my previous setup: TORO X520 730Kv motor with HOBBYWING 150A Pro ESC and Zippy 6s 5000mah lipo batteries i was able to get 20/25min runtime of hard driving on an asphalt race track.

    The ESC never get above 40°C and the motor stay under the 60°C.

    You just need to adapt your driving style with the 2WD spirit

    Couldn't you make this change with different gearing?

    Status: offline     		I am changing the motor not only for 50Kv, here is the spec of the two motors:

    My previous motor:

    - Product Name: X520 3Y
    - Watts: 5280
    - Max Voltage: 41V
    - Max Amps: 128
    - Resistance: 0.0132
    - KV (RPM/volt): 730
    - Max RPM: 30000
    - Length: 92mm
    - Diameter (w/fins): 57.8mm
    - Weight (g): 1010

    The new one:

    - Product Name: X528 2Y
    - Watts: 7350
    - Max Voltage: 38V
    - Max Amps: 193
    - Resistance: 0.0061
    - KV (RPM/volt): 780
    - Max RPM: 30000
    - Length: 113mm
    - Diameter (w/fins): 57.8mm
    - Weight (g): 1260

    As you can see, the new motor is a longer and a more powerfull motor.

    A longer motor give you more torque to move the weight of this big beast and more power => more watts.

    anyway, the spec of the new motor don't remind you something, like Castle 2028 ... just saying ...

    Status: offline     		Grimmjow, Any updates on your build? I would love to see some new video footage with the current motor/esc setup. I am in the process of sourcing a rolling chassis to do a similar build.

    Status: offline     		Also,I just noticed something. Does your chassis have two different ESC's mounted to it? It sure looks like it.

    Edit: Nevermind, I see that it is a BEC. I have never seen one of those before as I have always run internal BEC units.

    No update for now because the build is finished and i am waiting to race it in good weather conditions at my local track to make videos.
    Here the weather is not so good and the temperatures are soo low the tires just don't warm themself and it's just a no grip story ... i guess i will have to wait this summer or spring to really see what this setup got !
    But the first tests are really good, there is a lot of torque and the top speed is way out of reach for a gas engine

    Status: offline     		Oh,sorry to hear that. I am doing a similar build on an FG awd. What is the reason for the RX battery if the car is already powered by the two main packs? Am I missing something? If so is this required to run this type of setup? It's just that I have only seen RX packs run on nitro/gas cars. I have the ESC,Motor,BEC device,and two 4s packs. If this extra battery is absolutely necessary please let me know,I'd appreciate it.

    Status: offline     		I was using hydraulic brake, they consume a lot of energy so i prefer using a receiver pack to keep the other power pack for the motor only, longer run time.

    (I had asked about fitting a Porsche body onto that chassis and you let me know it would fit)
