I will be setting up a new model, and will be using five Spektrum A6020 digital servos for flight control surfaces. I would like to be able to use one of my 'regular' cheap servos for the throttle, and it is analog.

Is that OK to do?

My Rx is a AR8000 and I will also be utilizing the TM1000 telemetry module.

Thanks.

G'day Tom,
No problem, as long as the analogue servo can handle the battery voltage that you are using,
some analogue servos can't handle 6 volts, as in JR ES539's.
That is the only stipulation.
I do it all the time, without a problem.

Cheers.

I use a JR analog throttle servo the rest are digital with no problems on low frame rate (22ms) with my DX8. I was told by Horizon Hobby tech support to use the lower frame rate unless all servos are digital. I don't really understand the reason and I am skeptical about it but it's not worth the risk for me. I cannot notice the difference between low and high frame rate (22 vs 11ms)

The manual says "...fast frame rate is not compatable with some types of analog servos."

I would be very interested to hear an expert chime in on this.

An analog servo sends a pulse to the servo each time the frame updates. If you double the frame rate you double the pulses that go to the motor. If the servo is heavily loaded it might burn out the servo. For a servo used on the throttle it has very little load so it should be able to handle it if it is not stalled.
A digital servo makes its own motor pulses independent of the frame rate.

Thanks for that info. I have a DX7s. I will have to look up the default frame rate.

22ms is default

Only the primary servos (ail, elev, rudder and pitch in heli mode) get the increased frame rate if I recall correctly.
