I was going to run two Mean Well SE-350 12v power supplies in series, went to their web site and found this FAQ. I guess I don't understand what size diode I would need for this. If anyone can help, please post here.
The following is a description on how to set up two power supplies in series.

http://power-topics.blogspot.com/2009/07/operating-power-supplies-in-series.html

Here are the specifications and a diagram of this power supply.

http://www.meanwell.com/search/se-350/default.htm

Here is what was said in the FAQ from the Mean Well web site.

"YES, basically you can do this to get the right output voltage, but be careful that the rated output current of the series system should be the rating of the minimum one in these series connected power supplies. Furthermore, we like you to parallel a diode at the output of power supply to prevent possible damage of internal capacitors."

Thanks in advance,
Greg

If it makes any difference, I am going to use the series power supply to power my Cellpro Power Lab 6. I probably be charging at 4.0 amps minimum.

Do you need to use two supplies, or could one just do it.
I came accross that link few months ago, but didn't use any diodes with the supplies i use. I think some supplies have thier own safety feature built in for series connecting.

I already own the two power supplies.
This is the first time I owned a charger that had the ability to use this much power, and plan on utilizing it at times.
Seeing as Mean Well recommends the diodes be used, I think I will stick with their recommendations.

The note said to rate the diodes at the same capacity as the power supplies. "Rate these diodes at the same output current as the power supplies." These should work assuming 10amp supplies. http://www.amazon.com/Volt-Schottky-Diodes-Solar-Panels/dp/B0056RHMCG $5.98

The power supply is 29 amps. With the two power supplies in series, I should get 24v & 700 w.
What diode would you recommend for that amperage?
I should really learn more about DC electronics. I usually don't have a clue.

Thanks in advance,
Greg

From what the note said then you would need 30 amp diodes. However I do not believe that is necessary. It would only be for a worst case scenario, one supply turning on much slower than the other. If they were my supplies I'd use the 10 amp diodes. Your choice. 30 amp diodes would need to be heat sinked.
John

Still use the 50 piv voltage rating as a minimum.
