A couple of good links

https://sites.google.com/site/tjinguytech/charging-how-tos
http://www.scriptasylum.com/rc_speed/index.html

Plenty of others, but I can remember them. Most of the vendors have good faqs and care too.

thank you. i read it and understood some but its still confusing.
im using the 16.8 volt emaxx. i have been looking at the turnigy nano tech 6000mah
but there are 2s2p 65-130c
                        2s 25-50c
                        6s 25-50c
                        3s 25-50c
                        4s 25-50c

which one would be suitable for this truck?

I think the 16.8 e-maxx wants 4s total cells , that is 4 in series. Ignore the P and the C for now to determine the voltage. You can run a 4s pack or a pair of 2s packs in series to get the proper voltage.

Is this the BL or the older brushed version? The BL castle version can take up to 6s I think. That would be a 6s pack OR a pair of 3s packs or 3 of the 2s packs (all in series of course)

yes a pair of 2s. Try and get about the 5000mah capacity size. Or if the size dimensions of the 6000mah fits in your truck, that would be great.
If you haven't an lvd on the evx2 you'll need an alarm or cut off, also a lipo charger.
another site for lipo info.

Ok cool. I ordered the turningy accucell-6 (x2) for the charger. Can you tell me where to get a cheap alarm or cutoff?
I ran my emaxx today withy the 2 8.4 4600mah battery's thAt came with the truck and it sucks. The plastic is melting around one of the cells, and I'm only readying about 6.4 volts. I guess that cell is going bad.

Thanks for the info guys

for alarms check ebay, or if you can find a chargery b6 bm6, they are meant to be good.
For lvc i use a 2s novak smart stop on the bec side, but seems a bit low. Then again you shouldn't keep hitting the low voltage all the time.

Is this the type of alarm your talking about?

What's the difference in a hard case lipo and one with plastic heat shrink? My emaxx is all waterproof, how do lipos do around water? I don't wanna submerge them but if they get wet will they survive

I think this one is better, as it has a higher voltage reading for alarm. click

This one is better again. You can adjust the voltage on this and see the cell voltages in real time. click
Also check with the lipos if these fit your packs balance connectors

hard case lipos have a plastic shell soft case has like a thin plstic wrap. Both have advantages and dis advantages. You can see a lipo swell much easier in a soft case, By the time you notice a hard case swell it's pretty much to late. Hard case are better for physical protection from stones and branches compared to the soft case.
I use hard xase lipos in the wet but don't get them really wet. Try and avoid water if you can, one of the reasons i buy cheap packs, If they get damaged you buy another set. Charge and store them properly and they will last a long time providing you get decent spec lipo. I've had one soft case puff up slightly, but that was charging at 5C and bashing off road.

yea i got the 3906 with evx2 and dewalt motor. The newer maxx's must be awesome coz this is great.
I use 4000mah zippy's it's the largest i could fit.
I use the novak smart stop and with the first lipo's i kept hitting the low voltage and ended up puffing one pack, my old nanotechs.
I've used the zippy's for coming up to two year now, but will be going back to nano techs, I think i can get some 5200's to fit in.
But i'm also selling old stuff and any stuff on fleEbay, as thats going to fund my heli that i want to get into. If i get enough i might get a flm chassis and build up again.
