Does anyone have any pics or ideas of how to setup a simple low cost airplane transport trailer?  Looking for a low budget if possible.

A good friend of mine's dad had a trailer he did not use and just wanted it hauled away. SO I got mine cheap. Maybe keep an eye peeled while driving around, and you might spot one. I am going to custom build the box to carry my plane, but I want it low profile, so hopefully I can pull it with my car.

Old pop-up trailers can be bought cheap and with a little work can be made to work very well. They're a little short but unless you're hauling a 40% it shouldn't be a problem. There's a thread under transportation that has a great build thread that I used for my enclosed trailer. Lots of pictures and good descriptions.

I've got a couple trailers sitting around, both homemade one from a pop up camper and one is a converted pickup truck bed, these trailers are capable of 1000's lbs of payload.
When these trailera are empty they buck and bounce like they have no suspention at all and i would imagine my plane stuff would take a good beating in it, it would definately have to be secured well.
I guess what i'm getting at is if there were such a trailer that would have some nice bouncy light springs with matching shocks designed to haul lightweight fragile stuff then you would have a nice set up for hauling model planes.

I built this because I couldnt afford to drive my truck all the time anymore. I still get 27mpg towing with my honda civic, weighs under 500lbs fully loaded ready to go flying, about 40lbs tongue weight, and holds three .60 sized warbirds, or one giant scale warbird (86" to 100"). 10'Lx4'Wx3'H. Harbor freight 4x8 frame with home built box. About $600 finished. And I can easily man handle it to its parking spot. My build thread, http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4106446/anchors_4175381/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#4175381
Still going strong after 6 years.

Guys,

I just finished a real project trailer - I got it cheap and rebuilt it... TWICE!

By the time I was done I would have been further ahead to have bought a new trailer...

Build a trailer... certainly! But be careful, some projects can get out of hand.
