Hi Guys
Having been a ardent fan of jetfoil for many years 37 infact and I have studied these craft in the UK IRELAND and OVERSEAS exstensiveley and I think it time to share my expertise which is quite considerable. So now I put myself in the block for summery execution arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh .
I have seen the vids on youtube of Gasturvin Yoishi, Ruyudi and Hunstsman and have watched these vids over and over and found nothing new over the years.
In my opinion they have instability problems with control .
All the models I have watched all display the same symptoms associated with control namely unstable roll unstable pitch and roll control attitude , although GYROS are used they solve some of the problem but they are only part of the answer. Jetfoil model or otherwise needs HEIGHT COMMAND INPUT !
So Gasturvin Yoishi Ruyudi Huntsman and any others with an interested in the Jetfoil family give me some input here.
Wouldnt it be great to see the model behave as its prototype ???  Well its closer than you think
WHATS HEIGHT COMMAND INPUT ????

LETS CHAT !!!!!!!!
IM a Jetfoil modellor of many years standing .

I now proceed to the chopping block ,.. John

I see I still have my head

So what is height command input  ????  of course as if you guys didnt know   its the automatic system that keeps jefoil foilborne stable !!!!!
This is acheived by an ultrasonic height measurement taken at the bow and calculates the height from the bow to the water surface, but you new that too didnt you ? didnt you ok
The models behave no differant they need a height control but simpler.
Im not here to critisise you guys far from it ! but its time to take jetfoil as a serious model with its own language and control functions.
So come on guys get back to me lets talk from beginner to expert we all started somewhere.
Next reply will be jetfoil language !.
Trying to upload pics but they went somwhere ? obviously not here ! HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP.

Here is what I do, no need to register, sign up or anything. Go to http://www.tinypic.com

Under Upload Images & Video click on Browse.

Find the image on your computer.

Double click on the image.

Under Resize, choose Message Board.

Click on UPLOAD NOW.

Type in the code shown.

When a new window opens, click on the bar below IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards

Now just paste in your post where you want the photo.

Done.

With a little practice it's very easy.

BTW, height control works in full-scale but it does not keep the boats rock solid, they still drift a few inches up and down. That doesn't bother a full-scale boat, but would be far from ideal on a model. Unless you can up the resolution by at least an order of magnitude, I can't see it performing any better than a very good gyro setup. But by all means give it a try!

Hi Got Rpm

Thank you for your help it is much appreciated.
Yes you are correct in what you say as Jetfoils ACS works to a freq of 400mhz which means the flaps are continually moving to provide stability but a a well setup gyro will not stop foil broaching or unwetting of the bowfoil causing loss of lift on both bow and stern foils and inevatabley hullborne mode, this is why Jetfoil has a height control system, but even a simple height control system based on the prototype will work as I have found in recent experiments , even so a working knowledge of the full size mechanics with a simple control can acheive this on a reasonably sized model by by simple I mean electronic .

Hi again
Just want to say that I flew my first jetfoil model back in 1980 and the model displayed exactly the same instability as the models do today so nothing changes! and I decided then that jetfoil would only fly of sorts untill the technology was here so I decided to wait untill it was, and now it is! but in the intervening years I have worked on these craft so now Im hoping that jetfoil will REALLY FLY as a model very soon indeed and if it does then all of the submerged systems craft, like Tucumcari,  Phm,  Flagstaff,  Spaveiro, will follow . No more hit and miss proper flight my enthusiasm is boundless.
