Please see the video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRT3cV-ZtbU

I started this journey with the purchase of a used PST Panther. In good shape but needed some work. I originally had a 9303 that I was using, I've now purchased a 12X (yes it happened with both radio's). All the wiring has been replaced from the Y coming off the Rx to the servo in question and the flap servo's that seem to have something to do with the problem.
I am using brand new 2500mah, 2S, 7.4V Lipo's (2 of them) on a Smartfly regulator for power. Yes everything was freshly charged.

I don't know how to fix this.

Dale

Some digital servos don't like higher voltages. What's the output of the regulator?

Just an FYI... the elevator servos on my T-45 did the same thing. I put an inline regulator, and a toroid ring... and they stopped.

Check your TX servo monitor function to see if its coming from the radio.

To me it looks and sounds as if there is a little bit of a binding issue of the control surface. As if you are trying to get to much throw out of the servo which is causing so RF noise to interfere with the receiver.

Have you tried to decrease the ATV travel a little bit to see if it goes away?

Just a thought.

Dale,
You mentioned you have a "Y" harness. Could this be the problem??
2.4 radios do not like "Y" harnesses with amplifiers.

Well, Voltage was 5.26V on the high side.
Tx monitor was fine
Lowered the travel, no change
Removed the Y and although it gave a very slight twitch once, the problem was removed. Go figure. I guess I'll go with independent aileron channels.

Thanks much guys, much appreciated.

Dale

Does not apply to all 2.4Ghz radios, but Spektrum are especially prone, admitted on their own web site.

This is an interesting case. Fanout load on the Y of the signal wire mainly has been a known issue in the past so I guess that's why they came up with the amplified versions. Although it sounds like newer recievers from the manufacturers have a greater drive capability but I never hear it mentioned or read just how many fanouts they can drive. The other thing is the quality of the Y and any oxidation of the plugs should they be old which can add parasitic and lower the slew rates etc. When in doubt, pitch the Y and go with decent gauge leads wherever possible.

I had a similar problem a couple years ago and the Y was the issue. I made separate channels and it was fixed.

He did say it was with a 9303 and a 12X.......
It is mentioned in the JR 12X manual as well.

Given the interest on the topic I must state that the y was not amplified and I received the same twitch with the old existing and the newly purchased y harness. I must admit to not being as familiar with the 12x manual as I could be but it was something I have done for so long I never questioned it. This is of course why places such as RcUniverse exist.

Thanks again

Dale
