I need some help with determining what I have here.  I just got these planes and know I am in over my head after doing very little research.  I am wondering what these are worth and how and where I should put them to sell them.  They appear to all be in good shape but have sat around for some time now.  Any help you guys could offer would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

The first plae is a Great Planes Extra 300, the second is an Ace 4-90, or 4-120 Biplane. Hard to tell the size. These would/could be worth a couple hundred a piece depending on their and the engines condition. The radios are Futaba 72 meg systems. The 8 channel might bring $75-$100, the 6 channel is probably worthless. The radios are out dated and are hard to sell.

My advice is to seek out a local club, and offer them for sale to them or find a local swap meet and sell them there.

The engines both look like YS and are probably the better four strokes on the market. Can't tell what size. The first radio looks like the Futaba 8, kind of iffy because any of the 72s aren't worth much these days. I don't know much about the PCM model but it was a good radio. The 6 isn't worth much of anything these days. Depending on the YS engines, the .91 and 1.20s are going for about 100 bucks these days depending on your location. I'm the only person I know using them for just sport flying, even at the three clubs I belonged to in Calif and the three places I fly at here in NV. They were specialty engines used for the most part by pattern pilots. Most of mine were given to me because they are a bit different then OS and Saito and no one else knows how to operate or work on them.
You have a couple of good planes from what I can see with a couple of very good engines. Too much depends on your area as to value. I have a friend that would love the one radio and I would like to have the extra and both engines but neither of us would pay anything for them.
See, it's what the market will bear.

If you wasnt so far away from me id be willing to make some sort of deal with you on them. Good luck with them. You might try and post them on craigslist in the toy and hobby section.

You've got several good rc clubs in the Tulsa area that might take them off your hands.

That Extra is the Great Planes 300S and was a Sixty size kit built not an arf. I built and flew one for years with .61 (hum what a concept a sixty size with a sixty).

I beleve Steve is correct on the Ace Biplane. Trouble with attempting to sell something that is such a large airplane assembled/built and ship it is shipping has reached astronomical proportions so the only practical way to sell is face to face.

The 300 as in the picture would bring about 150 bucks. The ACE as it sit would be about 200 bucks. Heck if we were face to face I would make the offer on the ACE, would convert it to a glider tug and turn it over to one of the guy since we need another tug in the club beside me.

Now to the transmitters, The brutal truth is the nice Aluminium tranny cases are worth more than the transmitters or systems.

I'm going to point out that the previous owner had marked the second transmitter to be used for training. There's probably a cord in the box to connect the transmitters and slave the training transmitter (switched off, or no battery) to the PCM transmitter. The PCM transmitter would be used to generate signals to the training plane, but the instructor can hold a switch to allow the trainee to operate the controls.

If the purchaser tells you there's no value to those transmitters, you can ship them to me, I'll pay the shipping. I still use 72MHz transmiters, and many others do too.

Best wishes,
Dave Olson

Lots of great information and help so far guys.  Here are a few more pictures.  I have to come up with a plan on selling these (grouping, seperate etc.) soon because they are taking up quite a bit of garage space.  If anyone really wants a whole plane at this point, make me an offer- I am going to try and contact some local guys as well but I travel to Dallas and OKC fairly often and I see some of you live there and surrounding areas.  If anyone would like any specific pics, please let me know and I will be happy to take them.  Thanks again- you guys are really helpful!

I see a Spectra module in the radio box. If that 8 channel radio is a module radio that makes it a little more valuable since it can be converted to 2.4ghz. PCM 1024 is a dead technology now for all practical purposes since it won't work with the standard 72mhz receivers. I'm pm'ing you about some of the stuff you have there. I live in Fort Worth and can meet you in Dallas or somewhere between when you come.

Edit: I did a little research, and that radio is a module radio. So a buyer could convert it using at least the Futaba module, and possible one of the cheaper Hitec modules to 2.4ghz or any 72mhz channel.

The American Turf Flyers meeting is this Sunday (1/13) at 2:00. You could bring all your stuff out and at least get an idea
what it would be worth. Too bad our swap meet is not until Labor Day. Check with the Glue Dobbers - they used to have a
swap meet in late winter or early spring.

Link to Turf Flyers web page with a map to the field.

The engine in the Extra is definately a YS 91AC as surmised by Grey Beard and of course a good engine but not one that would be reccomended for a newbie.

It is an older discontinued YS that is most affected by disuse and the pump diaphram is what goes bad on 91AC's. There may be some still out there but becoming rare.

That engine itself not installed is worth about 100 bucks, installed in the airplane about 150 bucks.

I'm thinking along the same lines as John. The .91 I would have to look up but it has a low speed needle like an FZ so it is one of the last models they made of the engine. I'm not up on YS history, I'm just a user. Anyone like myself can buy the gasket kit and a few parts to get it back into shape. I was looking around for a .91 two years ago but couldn't find one worth giving any money for. A club member thought he was giving me a .91 but it turned out to be a 1.20FZ model. Too big for the plane I had.
For some reason kit built planes bring in less money then you would think but with the YS engine the Extra would maybe pull in about $150.00. The YS can also cause people to back off. I'm a big fan of them but none of my club members think like I do?
