... with fuel powered engines! Electric motors are for servo tabs and such.

Well.........I won't get into the old "fuel vs. electric motor" debate......... but I will say the electric motors that spin my props are more reliable and more powerful than the equivalent fuel motors.
Servo tabs? Huh? Those are for full scale airplanes.

I have used several of the standard sized Hitec servos with 6.6v LiFe should be fine there, not sure about the smaller sizes, might want to test an old one? Or call Hitec.

Whit

Whit, I did call hitec and they said it was fine to run 6.6V LiFE batteries unregulated. I told them servos range from 5645 and 645 down to HS 55 sub micros. Even the submicros are OK.

Old school, 4 cell NICAD/NMIH on ignition and 2 4 cell NICAD/NIMH on Rx via batshare. Worked 20 years ago, continues to work today.

I lost my top Flight Gaint p51 to the stock 4cell nicad that came with my DX8

I should of seem the signs. I put the TX on the charger over night as I was going to a big show.

While I was trying to start my P51 DX8 low voltage warring went off. I've never seen this before so I halled my bird back to the Pitts and put the tx pack on my charger at 1.5 amps

10min later my charger said it was done and only put in 200mah

Put it all back together after flying gor 5 min while doing a high speed low las my landing gear dropped and motor shut off. After it chess he'd right in front of me I look at my DX8 and it was off. Pulled the pack out the back and 1 of the batteries had melted the plastic covering

Glad to hear it, not surprised, they are generally good servos.
