My Flux is stock outside of a couple gears/pinion everyone said to upgrade immediately.

1)I was thinking about buying another set of mounted tires .... I've heard Badlands & Trenchers & Trencher Xs mentioned.... My initial impression is the Xs are heavier which will strain gearing, correct? I'd prefer not to worry about switching gearings. With Badlands & Trenchers would I be good to go no changes? I have 2S & 3S lipos.... just got the 3Ss a week ago, have not run them yet.

2)Did anyone upgrade the stock steering servo? If yes, with what?

hi mate. i dont own a flux so i dont know what the std servo is but i have heard good things about thr savox sc-1256tg high torque titanium gear servo. i will be updating mine to that very soon. look on ebay for it. i cant help you with your tire question tho. i have just ordered proline badlands n will be mounting them on desporado wheels. im hoping my std diffs will hold up if not il try the BP's. if u look on a thread that i started about 24mm hex hubs a fellow by the name of ben weighed the std savage xl wheel n tire and weighed prolines desporado wheel and tire. there was over 200g difference between the 2. proline being heavier

Yep that was me!

I am using Desperados with Bowties and love them.

Stock wheels and tires

Dont forget the 24mm wheel wrench!!

To counter the extra weight of the wheels and tires i have dropped the CB pinion 2 teeth to 14T
I haven't run it yet but the shift points for the 3speed will need to be adjusted.

Hope this helps

Ben

The HPIs use a 25 Spine servo horn.   While I do not own a Flux I did just purchase a 4.6 Trophy and it came with some additional Servo Horns in the parts kit.

I replaced the the stock servo with a HiTec HS-645MG which is 133 OZ metal geared servo and the Trophy came with a 24 Spline Servo Horn along with a 23 Spline Servo horn.

Futaba uses a 25 Spline and the S3305 is a 125 OZ Metal Geared Servo.   I just happen to have one laying around and just fitted the HPI Stock 25 Spline Servo horn on a S3305 Servo so I would not give you poor information.

Servo output shafts

23 tooth spline - Sanwa / Airtronics / KO / JR
24 tooth spline - Hitec
25 tooth spline - Futaba / TT / ACE / HPI/Traxxas

Hope this information helps you to choose a better steering servo
