I just wanted to say thanks for all the help and good advice I received from this forum. I bought this plane in 93 and didn't start work on it until 2005. Deployments and other travel kept it on the building board until last summer. I was lucky to come across quite a few building threads on the CG Ultimate. I was at a good stage of the build when I came across all the tips, tricks and upgades and was able to use most of them in my build. I also want to say thanks to all the help I received from the entire Kit Building Forum. The airplane really surprised me. I thought it would be too sensitive and it came out on the heavy side, little over 10lbs A Y.S. 120AC sits in the nose which gives it unlimited vertical. Only had 8 flights on it so far but next summer I really want to go full tilt boggie with it. Once again thanks to all for your help.

Maekju,

That certainly is a great looking Ultimate you have there. You did a great job on it. I bet that YS120 is an AWESOME motor in that plane........... I hope you have many years of enjoyment flying it.

Thank you for your service.

David

It's like my CG Extra, most the weight is the engine but those old 120s sure haul it around. I am just ready to start my Ultimate, the little ACE 33 inch 1/2A kit with an electric motor. Yours sure is nicer looking then the standard blue and yellow!!!

Thanks for the compliments. Building is my strong point covering is my weak point. Usually when I build I have no idea what my covering scheme will be. For some reason flames popped up in my head. Tacked them on with windex until happy with the pattern then ironed them down. Didn’t take as long as I thought but don’t think I’ll be putting on that many flames again. I used Hobby King covering for the first time, really like that stuff.

I miss mine, wrecked him around the time you picked yours up. Apart from coming in on final, they fly like a trainer, very nice. Great choice you picked for a powerplant, and it appears that you are no novice with your covering techniques, way to go.

One of my worries was coming in on final. Just kept the air speed up a bit and she settles down nicely.

Wonderful rendition of the 10-300...job well done on building and covering. You have much patience to do all those flames. You're right about landing...keep up some throttle and she lands like a feather. Jon

You guys remember the Goldberg Ultimate contests they had in the late 80's or was it the early 90s; can't seem to remember now.

What kind of contest was it, flying, covering?
