Hello everyone
I am a newb at boat and Rc of this centry all together.
I traded my nitro Losi truck for a Aqua Craft Super Vee. It has a stock brushless motor, stock ESC, stock receiver, threeblade balanced berilium prop, the batteries are two 7.2's.
All the cooing tubes are working the flex shaft is lubed and strait and free flowing. The problem is this, I hold the boat in my hand hold the trigger it beeps, once i let go it beeps 3 times. Then i hit the trigger and the prop goes like it should. I then set the boat in the water, hit the trigger it goes about 4 feet and stops then I re arm it the water and hit the trigger and the same. Well then I take the boat hold it one hand and hit the gas and the prop goes like a bat out of hell, so I then throw the boat along the water (with the trigger on and the prop going like a bat out hell)and it goes and pretty fast to . So I do about 4 laps around the pond and bring it in. The batteries are burning hot and i cant touch them without gloves. All the shrinkwrap has melted off the batteries so Im guessing that is not good. I would like to set the boat in the water and give it the gas and it would just go. Any help woul dbe great thanks a ton!!!

Welcome! As you are learning, boats do not behave like cars. What you are probably experiencing is the Low Voltage Cutoff (LVC) in the ESC. The nickel cells you have are probably not powerful enough to supply the minimum voltage when the amp draw is high - as when the boat is just starting off from a start. That big prop is not helping as it increases the amp draw even more. The overheated packs indicate 'way too high an amp draw. You need to get a smaller prop or you'll burn something up. The stock AQ prop is a good one for nickel cells. Better packs can help too, but try the smaller prop first.

Thanks what your saying makes sence. I checked and I have a Octura 440 prop and my batteries are 7 cels each and they are "hump backs" I gues, the say TENERGY on the cells. What kind of prop, size and from where? I saw a Super Vee on youtube that had 14 cells and it ripped it had a Graupner K series 48mm 2 blade prop. I want this thing to rip. Would it be possible to leave the prop and get better batteries?

if u wanted more speed u need to atleast upgrade the esc to higher amperage esc and check to see which motor u have.GUESS THEY MADE A 1500KV AND A 1800KV. 1800 GOOD FOR 14.4 VOLT OR 4 S AND THE 1500 IS GOOD FOR 5 OR 6 S WITH UPGRADED SPEED CONTROL.

Switching to lipo batteries will make a huge difference. Aside from the batteries thats the same setup I run in my SV, it's fast for a stock SV. Goes about as fast as the hull can handle before the SV handling issues start to show themselves.
Get a pair of 2s 5000mah 30c packs and hang on. Run them in series.

if I get the stock prop for my boat, what kind of batteries should I get ? I don't want to go Lipo yet as far as price goes , so what regular batteries that are affordable could I get and what kind,NiCd,1500mah, 1800mah,the batteries that it says it should have ,DuraTrax 3800mAh NiMH 7.2V 6 Cell Flat or  Duratrax NiMH 6-Cell 7.2V DTX 4200mAh Flat? What is the differance between a 2 blade or 3? Any help would be great thanks!!!

You will like your boat until you buy LiPo's. Then you will love it! I blow away everyone on the water, until I flip over. LiPo's are more more powerful, but they are also a lot lighter, witch makes a big difference when 'getting out of the hole'. I ran NiMh's for a long time and it took a lot of time to get on step once I switched to LiPo's it started jumping up on step. Check out cheap one's on hobbyking, they work great, I run the stock esc and motor and have had no problems.

A pair of 4000 to 4500 mah 2s Turnegy batteries from HK will set you back less than $50 plus you will need a lipo charger. Don't even think of cell ratings below 30c and 40 is better. Remember that lipos cannot stand being run down below about 3.8 volts. Offshore electrics has a lipo protector for $19.95 that will cut the power before you hurt the cells.
