Good Day

Trying to construct the windows on a DOUGLAS DC-3 DAKOTA, I tested various plastics without success, they just can not be glued to polyester fuselage. Now thinking to test thin plexiglass, if I could find 2 or 3 mm thick.

I also saw in Tower Hobbies a material called "LEXAN" which -as Tower declares- is proper for windshields.

Just wondering if this can be glued with EPOXY.

Has anybody tried this?

Thanks

George

Have you heard of a glue called rc 56, or 560?
It was always sold as sort of a specialty windshield glue

It dries clear, and SLOW.. but it stays fairly soft and REALLY seems to stick about any two things together I have used it on..
Lexan is good for window material,

+1 to Formula 560 Canopy glue. Works great, and dries clear so those pesky little boo-boos don't stand out. I use it all the time.

I have canopy material. It is 1mm thick and can even be put into shape if you have the proper setup and skills:

Material "Z-433" can be glued with EPOXY?

Or you can also sell the proper glue for this?

Where can I find the "Formula 506 canopy glue"? Is it proper for all kinds of plastic? Because I tried a polysterene glue -normally used for static/plastic models- but also without results.

I understand that each plastic demands its specific glue.

Regards

George

Not sure if locally available in Greece but Tower and Horizon Hobby has it, a very good glue for wind shields. Other glues that have worked for me was goop, but its a pain to work with. You dont need much. It sticks very well to polyester glass. I wouldnt use that unless the RC56 doesnt work. When I'm desperate and cant get the glue to hold (like a stubborn front wind shield on a busa kit), I used Gorilla Glue, just a slight very small amount was all that was needed. Careful, it foams and you have to wipe off excess. I would experiment with it first. Gorilla Glue is usually available from hardware stores.

Tower Hobby sells that glue. Type "canopy glue" in the search bar, and you will get a direct hit. Works very well

Hi!
You can glue any plastic with RC-56 Canopy glue.
It's like white glue but more flexible.

Just get it glued well with the 56 or 560, and leave it alone for a couple days, if its not clear its not dry, and if you have a large overlap it can take quite awhile to cure out.. maybe 2-3 days ... It is worth the wait though.. its good stuff.
