I have an old OS Max-H 60 marine inboard engine. It has a weird carb on the back and is missing parts. Anyone know where to get parts for this relic?

(Carb Barrel, Carb Gasket, Piston Ring, etc)

This may sound stupid but have you tried Tower ? I can probably come up with part numbers if they can't find them.
I think Radio South had some older OS parts on the shelf too. Some of the parts may have been shared with aircraft.

pooper,
Not sure if you posted the wrong picture but the picture appears to be a standard aircraft version. They came in both front and rear intake with the gold head. I have the front intake one.
I believe the marine version had a flywheel and a water-cooled head.
Not trying to be smart, just hoping to expand your possibilities for parts.
Good luck,
George

Hey poop,

That ain't a boat engine. Its a plane engine! The picture looks good. How much runnin' time on it? If none or little, sell the thing on ebay and get a good engine for your needs. This is a collectible engine and may bring some serious cash.

I posted the airplane version because it was the clearest I could find. Mine has the flywheel and the rear carb just like the picture. Tower doesn't have anything left for this.

OSengines.com doesn't even list the Max-H 60 (Max H60 GP) in their discontinued section.

I saw a posting the for the Max-H 40, a piston ring from a OS FS-40 would work. That's nice but then I don't see a FS-60 anywhere that may have worked by the same theory.

This engine was my father's before I was born in 75, so I've been wanting to restore it for use. The piston ring is broken and the carb rotor is gone. Other than that the sleeve is smooth and the bearings are good.

I would appreciate part numbers/ interchange info with any other motors.

As for the muffler, back then they didn't bother with mufflers. It had a butterfly flap that opened and closed with the carb.

I've got the similar 80 version but with twin glow plugs and plain alloy head. The carb looks strange but it's done this way to reduce the overall length of the engine. One other benefit is that if you wanted to use the engine inverted you can just unscrew the carb and flip it 180 if there was a problem getting the tank low enough.

Piston rings are no problem, give this guy a call.

The last info I had was that a ring would be less than $10 and apparently he does superb work.

As for the carb barrel, I'd suspect it's the same as was fitted to most other larger OS's of that period (mine appears to be brass). But if you get stuck then I'd suggest simply making a right angled adaptor to mount a later carb on.

I have an old OS .60 Gold Head that needs a new Cylinder Head (mine works but got scraped up somehow).  Any chance you have one?  If so please email me... ltsta4b@yahoo.com.

Thanx,  Dale

I agree, that's the rear drum rotary type OS Goldhead .60 RC airplane engine. I bought one around 1974. Just found the instruction sheet for it yesterday when I was going through some stuff and now I can't find it.

Dale I have a head for the .60 gold head front intake engine. Not sure if there's a difference. It isn't new but is undamaged and still has some gold on it. Yours for the shipping cost.

Rick H.
